IN A NUTSHELL…

At Bellroy we build products that simplify the carry experience, and data is an integral part of how we make smart decisions along the way. From pricing new product lines to figuring out how to better serve customers in new markets, our Data Analytics team sits right at the heart of the business.

We're looking for a Business Insights Analyst to join that team. This isn't a role where you'll be handed a brief and asked to run reports. You'll work right across Bellroy with marketing, finance, product and more to solve real problems and build technical solutions so our people have the right information to act on. You'll own the work end-to-end: scoping, analysis and build, through to recommendations and outcomes that actually move the needle.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU…

  • Have 5+ years of experience working with data, analytics and reporting
  • Possess advanced proficiency in writing SQL queries, building dashboards, and creating spreadsheets (and can pick up new tools without needing your hand held)
  • Are a natural collaborator and problem solver. You can engage stakeholders to understand the decisions they’re facing, ask the right questions and help them get the insights they need
  • Don’t just stop at the insight. You’re comfortable making clear recommendations on the path forward and can confidently make the case for it, even when it’s not what your stakeholders want to hear
  • Have real examples of where your analysis led to an actual decision or change you influenced
  • Approach problems with structure: you can take something ambiguous, break it down and find a path forward
  • Can translate data into something people can act on and you enjoy the storytelling component of your work
  • Are detail-oriented and methodical, but never lose sight of the bigger picture
  • Are curious and proactive - you see a gap or an opportunity and you go after it

WE'D BE EXCITED IF YOU ALSO…

  • Have experience with, or genuine interest in, retail or product-based businesses
  • Think carefully about how you design solutions for end-users - not just whether the analysis is correct, but whether it’s easy for people to use and that they can derive value from it
  • Have a data science lean or an interest in how newer tools and approaches (like AI-assisted analysis) can make insights sharper and faster
  • Have worked with Google Cloud Platform tools like BigQuery or Looker (if you've used different tools, that's fine, we care more about the fundamentals)

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST MONTH, YOU MIGHT HAVE…

  • Facilitated a workshop with the marketing team to scope how to better monitor performance in new markets Bellroy has recently expanded into
  • Partnered with our Business Development team to develop a data-driven Geo Scorecard, identifying and prioritising high-opportunity markets to inform Bellroy’s global expansion strategy
  • Helped prepare and present a recommendation to senior leadership on whether Bellroy should open a new warehouse location to better serve customers
  • Investigated a persistent data quality issue causing stock level inaccuracies, figured out the root cause and put together an action plan to fix it
  • Built a new Looker dashboard to report on key financial metrics and worked with a Data Engineer to surface the missing fields in BigQuery needed to make it work
  • Paired with another Analyst to improve how data is organised and queried in BigQuery, making it easier to find and cheaper to run
  • Run a training session with the Customer Support Lead, helping them get confident answering their own questions using Bellroy's reporting tools
  • Joined the weekly Data Analytics planning meeting to share what you're working on and pick up any new priorities for the week

This is a full-time role based at our Collingwood office in Melbourne, with hybrid flexibility.
