
Join us as Business Governance Lead, Corporate & Institutional Banking
We’ll look to you to provide strategic leadership, direction and professional advice on corporate governance and relevant internal and external policy matters for executive level committees
You’ll be making sure that appropriate processes are in place to track, analyse and proactively advise on external legal, regulatory and governance developments
You’ll be results-driven; and ensure that strategic decisions are appropriately cascaded and monitored to completion through regular feedback loops
This is an opportunity to gain exposure as you act as trusted adviser and expert for a range of policy issues, advising senior colleagues and board counsel, the function and wider business
You’ll be required to work from the office at least two days per week
As Business Governance Lead, you’ll be supporting the business in the delivery of its strategic objectives by supporting core corporate governance and decision making forums and providing coordinated and consistent professional support and advice.
You’ll also be:
Overseeing the function’s responses and providing input to consultative documents and proactively influencing external developments in order to manage risks and costs for the bank
Representing the function on external bodies and governance groups, building close and effective working relationships with key C-suite stakeholders and providing input and challenge
Overseeing and managing the bank’s subsidiary governance framework, providing advice and support to subsidiary Boards and company secretaries on corporate governance and subsidiary governance matters
Providing confidential advice and support to senior colleagues and board counsel across a broad range of strategic, Board, ExCo and corporate governance matters
Making sure that costs are managed proactively and where relevant identifying savings
To succeed in this role, you’ll need considerable experience as a lawyer or chartered secretary and a detailed understanding of listed companies, banking or financial services. You’ll also need detailed knowledge of the company secretarial, legal and regulatory environment pertaining to large, complex financial service organisations.
Additionally, you’ll bring the ability to interact and communicate professionally with people at all levels across the organisation including Non-Executive Directors, subsidiary boards and senior executives.
