Reel is building Europe’s leading renewable energy platform, solving the biggest problem in today’s energy markets: matching renewable supply with demand. We’re creating a new category by combining renewable optimization and electricity supply.
We rethink electricity from first principles to accelerate the shift to a carbon-free energy system.
We close the gap between renewable producers and corporate consumers by enabling companies to move beyond ‘green claims’ and achieve verifiable carbon reductions.
We are positioned to capture a multi-billion-euro opportunity, by solving the supply-demand mismatch between renewable producers and corporate consumers. By tackling this structural gap with a modern platform, Reel is building the commercial category leader in renewable electricity supply and asset monetization.
Join a mission-driven, cross-functional team of builders, operators, and climate experts working to create Europe’s leading platform for renewable energy.
Reel is backed by leading international investors, growing exponentially year-on-year, and expanding rapidly across Europe.
Germany is Reel's first and most important international market. We are live as an electricity trader for the first assets on the German market, and are now building out the commercial and operational foundations for a full-scale market entry.
As Business Development Student, you will be one of the first people working on Reel's German market entry. This is not a typical student job where you observe from the sidelines. You will be directly involved in shaping Reel's go-to-market, testing commercial hypotheses, and helping build the operational backbone of our German business. You will work closely with Lukas (Strategy & Business Development Manager) and the wider commercial team.
Your mission is to help Reel find and validate the right go-to-market channels in Germany, while supporting the day-to-day operations that keep the German business running.
You can expect a mix of commercial outreach, market research, and operational support. No two weeks will look the same. Expect to:
Develop, test and validate different go-to-market approaches. What works? What doesn't? Your outreach and conversations will directly inform Reel's German commercial strategy.
Support operational workstreams specific to the German market, including regulatory topics, partner coordination, and internal process building.
Research and map the German energy landscape: competitors, potential partners, industry associations, and relevant regulatory developments.
Prepare materials, briefings, and meeting notes for commercial conversations and partnership discussions.
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role where you will learn by doing. If you want to understand how an energy company is built from scratch in a new market, this is the front-row seat.
We care more about attitude than credentials. That said, the strongest candidates will bring several of the following:
Genuine interest in the energy transition and the German electricity market Bonus if you've already had some exposure (internship, coursework, working student role) to energy, utilities, or renewables.
A proactive, figure-it-out mindset You don't wait for instructions. If something needs doing, you find a way.
Comfort with outreach You're not afraid to pick up the phone, send a LinkedIn message, or walk up to someone at a conference. This isn't a sales role, but you should be someone who is comfortable reaching out to strangers and starting conversations.
Strong organizational skills. You'll be juggling commercial topics, research, operations, and ad-hoc tasks. You need to keep things from falling through the cracks.
Fluent German and strong English
