Job Description

Job Purpose and Impact

The Ocean Transportation (OT) China Business Development Specialist’s key role is to assist China team to grow ocean freight business in China, including but not limited to cargo book development, OT internal projects management certain areas.

In this role, you will participate in Ocean freight selling to the company's new and existing customers based in China. You will also need to actively involve in projects related to future growth within OT.

Key Accountabilities

50% Develop/Maintain China customers for global freight team

  • Develop new customers with dry bulk or wet cargo into and out of China.
  • Maintain the long term and mutually beneficial relationship with existing China key customers.
  • Assist China team to cover Cargill internal customers’ freight demand regularly.
  • Track closely for new trade flow and be able to catch potential business opportunities.

30% Team player

  • Build strong relationships with internal trading, operation and analysis teams in different locations.
  • Collect insights from customers and the external market to share China commodity, freight or Macro market information internally.

20% Project management

  • Participate in OT internal projects i.e Green shipping, AI Shipping or others.
  • Contribute new ideas to project team. Prepare and present project status report. Coordinate internal departments and senior stakeholders to ensure project run under schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Shipping, International Trade, Finance or Economics.
  • Proven 3 to 5 years’ working experience in Shipping or commodity trading industry with trackable good reputation in relevant market.
  • High level of soft skills: Clear digital appetite and AI proficiency, proactive willingness to learn and utilize new tech to improve job efficiency and solve problems, excellent verbal and written communication skills, resilience and etc.
