Farnell Electronics, an Avnet company is on the look out for a Business Development Representative (BDR) which will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and developing new sales opportunities for NI's (National Instruments) test products, software, and solutions. This role combines foundational technical awareness of test and measurement solutions with proactive outbound prospecting to build pipeline and support revenue growth. The BDR engages new and existing customers through multi-channel outreach (phone, email, virtual meetings) to uncover customer challenges, position NI Test capabilities, and advance qualified opportunities to the appropriate sales stakeholders.
The BDR plays a critical role in expanding market presence, increasing account penetration, and supporting regional sales teams in achieving revenue and pipeline targets.
What You Will Be Doing:
Proactively identify and qualify new business opportunities for NI Test solutions through outbound prospecting, inbound inquiries, marketing leads, and supplier referrals.
Engage prospective and existing customers to understand test, validation, and measurement challenges across applications such as R&D, manufacturing test, and validation.
Initiate first-contact conversations to position NI products, and system-level solutions.
Qualify opportunities based on customer needs, timeline, budget, and technical fit, and route sales-ready opportunities to the appropriate Account Manager, Inside Sales Representative, or Business Development Manager.
Accurately and promptly respond to customer requests for information related to NI Test products, capabilities, and use cases.
Maintain consistent follow-up throughout the opportunity lifecycle to ensure timely progression from initial contact to handoff.
Collaborate closely with internal teams including Sales, Product, Marketing, and NI partners to align messaging and account strategy.
Maintain accurate opportunity and activity tracking within CRM systems to support forecasting and pipeline visibility.
Support regional sales objectives by contributing to pipeline growth, account expansion, and market coverage.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
The Ideal Person:
Poses foundational understanding or strong interest in NI Test and Measurement solutions.
Has asic knowledge of sales processes, prospecting methodologies, and lead qualification.
Operates with guidance from management; limited authority to negotiate pricing or commercial terms.
Works closely with the assigned Business Development Manager and regional sales team to support shared territory goals.
Has a bachelors degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
