Job Description

About GroupStrength

At GroupStrength, we’re shaking up the Canadian group benefits industry with bold, direct-to-client solutions that cut through the noise; saving clients time, money, and frustration.

Our people are what set us apart. From sales to support, we’ve built a team that’s hungry, innovative, and genuinely excited about the difference we’re making. We work hard, celebrate wins, and support each other every step of the way. It’s the kind of environment where we all thrive and where our people choose to stay because they feel valued, challenged, and part of something bigger.

At GroupStrength you will grow your career and be part of a team that actually loves what they do.

YOUR ROLE

As a passionate Business Development Representative, you play a pivotal role in reaching out to and qualifying external prospects and business development leads via telephone. Your primary objective is to schedule phone appointments for our advisors, setting the stage for impactful conversations that introduce, position, and promote our product offerings—ultimately driving new business growth.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Build meaningful connections with prospective clients through professional and engaging telephone outreach.
  • Maintain a consistent outbound call volume of 80+ calls per day to maximize outreach and pipeline growth.
  • Secure qualified telephone appointments with key decision-makers to support our advisor team.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, to position our solutions effectively.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records in the CRM, ensuring visibility and alignment across teams.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Business Development Representative, you’ll be supported with the tools and training you need to succeed—while being held to clear performance expectations that set you up for long-term growth.

  • You will consistently meet or exceed your assigned appointment quotas:
    • By Month 2: 2 appointments per day / 40 per month
    • By Month 4: 3 appointments per day / 60 per month
    • By Month 6: 4+ appointments per day / 80 per month
  • You'll ensure every appointment is accurately scheduled and confirmed, including all key participants.
  • You'll focus on quality - not just quantity - by ensuring appointments reflect a clear understanding of the prospect's needs and specific topics to be addressed.
  • You'll maintain clean, accurate records in the CRM, following best practices for documentation and follow-ups.
  • You'll receive regular coaching, performance feedback, and goal reviews to help you progress within the role - and toward future promotions.
  • You'll be a part of a high-performing, supportive team that celebrates wins, shares insights, and works collaboratively toward shared success.

THIS IS YOU

  • You have completed post-secondary education.
  • You bring at least 1 year of experience in an outbound call center or inside sales role (an asset).
  • You’re comfortable using CRM in a sales or administrative setting.
  • You have experience with telephone marketing (an asset).
  • You’re a strong communicator—confident in both verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can adapt quickly to evolving business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

  • Competitive base salary with a monthly bonus structure—top BDRs can earn up to $2,000/month in performance bonuses
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
  • A vibrant, energetic team culture that celebrates success
  • Clear career progression and professional development opportunities
  • Early wrap-up on Happy Fridays: Monday–Thursday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Critical Competencies for the Role

  • Resilience – You stay motivated through high-volume outreach and bounce back quickly from rejection.
  • Persuasive Communication – You know how to grab attention, spark interest, and confidently secure meetings with decision-makers.
  • Active Listening – You ask the right questions, uncover real needs, and position conversations that lead to valuable meetings.
  • Reliability – You consistently hit outreach targets, follow up with purpose, and keep your pipeline organized and up to date.
  • Mental Toughness – You bring grit, positivity, and focus to a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.

YOUR COMPENSATION

At the time of this posting, the estimated annual base salary for this position is $45,000. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education/training. This reflects the annual base salary only and does not encompass our comprehensive total rewards, benefits, and potential commissions that we proudly offer.

CAREER PATH & GROWTH POTENTIAL

This is more than an entry-level role—it’s your first step toward a rewarding long-term sales career at GroupStrength. High-performing BDRs progress through a clear growth path with increasing base salary, higher bonus potential, and new responsibilities:

  • Level 1 – BDR
    • Starting base salary of $45,000 + monthly bonuses up to $2,000
