The Marketing Solutions business, part of the Commerce and Marketing Group of the Rakuten Group, offers comprehensive and unique solutions that leverage the transaction data held by the Rakuten Ecosystem and the technology of the Rakuten Group. These solutions enable companies to maximize the power of digital marketing and accelerate their business growth.
Department Overview
The Alliance Strategy Section is responsible for developing new businesses in the Marketing Solutions business through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Recently, we have been working with the product development department to plan services and promote sales, aiming to make the assets used internally by Rakuten available externally as platforms and tools.

The Rakuten Asset Sales initiative is still in its early stages, but with the expansion of target products and the increase in client offerings, we need an additional talent to strengthen this business.
Position Details
You will be responsible for business development in Rakuten Asset Sales. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Product management and development in collaboration with product managers.
2. Project reporting and direction proposals to executives.
3. Sales promotion in collaboration with sales representatives.
4. Handling key clients (providing end-to-end services such as sales, consulting, and support).
While the general direction and products are aligned with the company's policies, this position allows you to have significant discretion in how you utilize these resources to create substantial business opportunities. Time allocation will be roughly split between internal (1, 2) and external (3, 4) tasks, with 60% of your time spent on communication and 40% on research and document preparation. Some internal and client communications should be in English.
Work Environment
The Alliance Strategy Section (L3) is positioned directly under the Marketing Solutions business (L1.5), which is overseen by Rakuten's Executive Officers. Currently, the section consists of only one Senior Manager. Projects are advanced in close collaboration with several stakeholders from other internal departments, depending on the product and case.
Joined a Rakuten subsidiary as a mid-career hire, and after 13 years of managing and developing digital marketing products and developing new businesses through alliances with overseas venture companies, working as the current role for 2 years.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of experience in digital marketing-related work
- More than 5 years of experience in business development or product management/development
- Business-level English
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience as a system engineer or system sales
- Experience in directly reporting and obtaining approvals from executive layers in companies with over 500 employees in Japan
