We are proud to offer a broad range of products and tailored solutions for the life sciences, bioprocessing, microparticles, medical device, specialty chemical and eChem industries. Drive Innovation. Build Partnerships. Bring Science to Market.
Polysciences, Inc. is seeking a Business Development Manager to help drive the strategic growth and commercialization of our Specialty Products business. Working closely with the Director of Commercial Strategy & Business Development, this role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic customer relationships, and commercializing custom monomers, polymers, and microspheres used in cutting-edge biomedical, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, and life science applications.
This is not a traditional sales role. Success comes from understanding complex technical challenges, identifying unmet customer needs, and partnering across the organization to bring innovative materials from concept to commercialization.
Why This Role?
This isn't a replacement position—it's an investment in growth. As our Specialty Products business continues to expand, we're adding another Business Development Manager to increase our commercial reach and accelerate the commercialization of innovative materials.
At Polysciences, we partner with leading organizations in the medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, and life science markets to solve complex material science challenges. Our customers aren't simply purchasing products—they rely on us to develop customized solutions that enable innovation.
If you're energized by solving technical problems, building long-term partnerships, and helping bring innovative technologies to market, you'll find meaningful opportunities to make an impact here.
What You'll Do
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities through market research, customer engagement, industry networking, and strategic prospecting.
- Evaluate market opportunities aligned with Polysciences' technologies, manufacturing capabilities, and strategic growth objectives.
- Engage customers to understand unmet technical needs and develop high-value commercial opportunities.
- Serve as the commercial leader for strategic opportunities by influencing and coordinating cross-functional teams across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Operations to successfully bring new products and technologies to market.
- Build long-term strategic partnerships with key customers while expanding relationships into new applications and markets.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project execution, product launches, and customer satisfaction.
- Negotiate confidentiality agreements, supply agreements, development agreements, quality agreements, and other commercial contracts.
- Contribute to revenue growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and the successful commercialization of innovative technologies.
What Success Looks Like
During your first year, you will:
- Build trusted relationships with key customers and internal technical teams.
- Develop a strong pipeline of strategic commercial opportunities.
- Successfully move new opportunities from concept through commercialization.
- Become a trusted advisor capable of connecting customer needs with Polysciences' scientific capabilities.
- Contribute to the continued growth of the Specialty Products business.
Who You Are
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or another related scientific discipline required.
- Advanced scientific degree preferred.
Experience
- Demonstrated success developing and commercializing technically complex products, especially raw materials, in specialty chemicals, biomaterials, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or related industries.
- Experience working directly with technical customers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of product development, commercialization strategies, regulatory considerations, and customer decision-making within the medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, or life science markets.
- Ability to evaluate market opportunities and make sound business decisions using data and commercial insight.
What Sets You Apart
We're looking for someone who:
- Is naturally curious and enjoys learning complex science.
- Builds credibility quickly with technical customers.
- Enjoys solving difficult customer challenges rather than simply selling products.
- Recognizes opportunities others may overlook.
- Is self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable working independently.
- Thinks strategically while executing with urgency.
- Thrives in collaborative, cross-functional environments where influence matters more than authority.
- Takes ownership and follows opportunities through to successful commercialization.
Work Environment
- Highly preferred this position is based full-time on-site in Warrington, Pennsylvania. Hybrid onsite at least 2 days a week is our second choice. For the ideal candidate, we will consider remote work with regular onsite visits.
- Approximately 30% travel, including occasional international travel, is required to meet with customers and industry partners.
Join Us
At Polysciences, business development is a highly strategic role. Our Business Development Managers don't simply sell products—they influence product strategy, identify emerging market opportunities, build long-term customer partnerships, and help shape the future direction of our Specialty Products business.

If you're energized by building relationships, uncovering new opportunities, and making a measurable impact on business growth, we'd love to hear from you.
