What's the job?

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving and executing sales strategies, managing key accounts and identifying new business opportunities with a focus on Groups, Conferencing and Events. This individual will work closely with internal and external partners to drive revenue generation and effective negotiations, securing opportunities in alignment with expectations. This role involves building and maintaining strong client relationships, through active engagement, targeting new and existing accounts, and strategically sourcing and converting opportunities.

Your day-to-day

  • Develop and convert new business while maintaining existing accounts.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key clients, corporate accounts, and partners.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sales, optimise hotel revenue through up-selling, yield management, and strategic pricing.
  • Represent the hotel at industry and trade events to enhance visibility and drive ROI.
  • Manage sales pipelines, execute personal sales plans, and track progress against targets.
  • Leverage market insights, competitor analysis, and IHG systems to inform strategies.
  • Support corporate account acquisition through RFP management and proactive engagement.
  • Drive innovative initiatives, client events, and familiarisation to generate revenue.

What we need from you

  • Full unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Sales, Business, or Hospitality Management.
  • Formal Sales Management training and minimum two years’ sales experience in Australasia with proven results.
  • Knowledge of hotel systems (Delphi, Opera, IHG Concerto, Lighthouse) and revenue management principles.
  • Strong understanding of sales strategies, key account management, and new business development.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships, including senior management.
  • Excellent presentation, commercial, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, persuade, and drive results.
  • Flexible, proactive, and committed to IHG policies and high performance standards.
