Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Manager - FX/Cross Border Payments based in Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven professional to grow new business within the international payments and foreign exchange space.
You will build and manage a pipeline of corporate prospects, helping businesses address complex cross-border payment and hedging needs.
The role combines consultative B2B selling, financial expertise, relationship building, and proactive business development.
You will engage decision-makers ranging from business owners and directors to senior finance leaders and C-suite executives.
Using modern sales tools and multiple prospecting channels, you will own opportunities through the sales cycle and into client onboarding.
You’ll join a fast-paced, globally connected environment where performance, initiative, and customer value are highly valued.
The position offers the opportunity to make a measurable revenue impact while developing expertise in international payments, FX, and risk management.

Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective corporate clients for B2B payment and foreign exchange solutions, identifying organizations with international payment, risk management, or hedging requirements.
  • Drive new business revenue and consistently achieve agreed KPIs and targets, providing regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance updates.
  • Proactively generate opportunities through cold calling, email outreach, networking events, referrals, exhibitions, partnerships, and other business development channels.
  • Use sales and prospecting platforms such as Salesforce, Highspot, and ZoomInfo to research prospects, generate leads, manage activities, and advance opportunities.
  • Own the sales cycle from initial prospecting and qualification through commercial negotiations and client onboarding before transitioning relationships to the account management team.
  • Consult with prospects to understand their international payment and hedging requirements and recommend relevant solutions across payments, FX, and risk management.
  • Build relationships and influence stakeholders at different levels, from start-up founders and business owners through to directors, finance leaders, and C-suite executives.
  • Introduce prospects to relevant internal specialists and support functions, ensuring clients receive the appropriate expertise throughout the sales process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including sales activity, prospect status, next steps, and opportunity information.
  • Conduct market analysis, monitor industry developments, and participate in relevant events to identify emerging opportunities and strengthen market knowledge.
  • Requirements:

    • 2–5+ years of experience in financial services, ideally within foreign exchange, international payments, commercial payments, or a related financial technology environment.
    • Practical understanding of financial markets and instruments, including spot transactions, forwards, derivatives, FX, payments, risk management, and/or hedging solutions.
    • Proven B2B sales experience with a track record of acquiring new customers and achieving or exceeding revenue and performance targets.
    • Experience with consultative selling, corporate negotiations, prospecting, networking events, trade fairs, cold calling, and other proactive business development activities.
    • Strong understanding of international and bulk payment processing, accounting systems, payment technologies, and platform integrations.
    • Financially astute, commercially minded, and comfortable translating complex financial or payment concepts into clear business value for customers.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
    • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
    • Fluent written and spoken English, as English is the primary language used for internal communication.
    • Familiarity with CRM and sales enablement tools is an advantage, particularly experience working with Salesforce or similar platforms.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive annual compensation of CAD $100,000–$130,000
      • Company-paid health benefits.
      • RRSP matching and retirement savings support.
      • Paid time off and wellness resources.
      • Hybrid working arrangement combining work from home with opportunities to work from offices in Vancouver or Toronto
      • Career development and growth opportunities within a global organization.
      • Corporate benefits and additional employee perks.
      • Opportunity to work in a diverse, international environment with colleagues across multiple countries.
      • Exposure to global B2B payments, foreign exchange, risk management, and cross-border financial solutions.
      • No Canadian work experience requirement.
