Job Description

Based out of our LMI hub in Berlin/Teltow, our secondary base in Munich, or remote anywhere in Germany, we are hiring a Business Development Manager (Europe) for our Liberty Robotics team to lead our expansion and drive cutting-edge 3D vision solutions across the Material Handling sector!

Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Liberty Robotics, the Business Development Manager (Europe) is a high-impact, strategic "hunter" role dedicated to accelerating revenue growth across the European market, with a primary focus on the Material Handling and Logistics sectors.

The primary strategic priority for the 2026 calendar year is laying the foundation for long-term commercial growth by identifying, engaging, and onboarding strategic System Integrators (SIs), OEMs, and Tier-1 partners. This role is designed to build a robust European partner ecosystem during 2026, positioning Liberty Robotics as the primary 3D vision solution provider for major automation projects and driving significant realized revenue in 2027 and beyond.

Key Accountabilities & Strategic Objectives

  • Pan-European Market Expansion: Drive business development across European manufacturing and logistics hubs, proactively penetrating target accounts in Material Handling, warehousing, logistics, and automated manufacturing.
  • 2026 Strategic Partner Development: Focus 2026 efforts on establishing and nurturing high-value partnerships with System Integrators (SIs), laying the groundwork required for multi-year revenue generation starting in 2027.
  • New Customer Acquisition: Cultivate direct relationships with key decision-makers across OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and large end-users where Liberty’s 3D robotic vision technology is not currently utilized.
  • Solution Discovery & Application Mapping: Collaborate consultatively with customers and integrators to uncover complex automation challenges and identify new application areas for 3D vision sensors and software.
  • Tenacious Pipeline Execution: Maintain a proactive, high-drive approach to prospecting, lead qualification, and opportunity management across extended sales cycles (9–12+ months).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Liberty’s Application Engineering, Product Management, and Sales leadership teams to align technical solutions with customer requirements and deliver successful Proof of Concept (PoC) trials.
  • Industry Representation: Promote Liberty Robotics’ brand presence at industry trade shows, conferences, and strategic partner events throughout Europe.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive territory plan for assigned European regions, aligned with Liberty’s corporate growth objectives.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard key System Integrators to establish a strong distribution and solution channel.
  • Conduct targeted research and market analysis within European Material Handling and automation sectors to identify emerging trends and competitive activity.
  • Manage complex technical sales cycles from initial outreach through application qualification, Proof of Concept (PoC) evaluation, proposal delivery, and contract closure.
  • Provide feedback and Statement of Requirement (SoR) reports to R&D and Product Management regarding market needs and feature requirements.
  • Maintain regular CRM updates, pipeline forecasting, and market intelligence reporting for executive management.
  • Travel extensively across Europe (up to 50%+) for customer site visits, integrator alignment, and trade events.

Education, Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven business development or direct technical sales experience within industrial machine vision, robotic vision systems, industrial automation, or robotics.
  • Industry Experience: Deep understanding of the OEM, Tier-1, and System Integrator relationship dynamic is required. Experience selling into the Material Handling, Logistics, or Intralogistics sector is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Mechanical) or Business/Commerce, or equivalent technical training and industry experience.
  • Language Proficiency: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both German and English are required. Additional European languages (e.g., French, Italian, Dutch) are an asset.
  • Technical Aptitude: Working knowledge of 3D vision technologies, industrial sensors, robotics, and automated process control.
  • Sales Mentality: A tenacious, self-motivated "hunter" mindset with a track record of building technical sales pipelines from scratch.
  • Logistics & Mobility: Valid European driver’s license (Category B), eligibility/authorization to work in Germany, and willingness to travel frequently across Europe.

What We Offer

  • Strategic Visibility: Direct access and reporting line to Managing Director, with opportunity to shape Liberty Robotics' European footprint.
  • High-Growth Market: Leading-edge 3D vision solutions addressing critical automation shortages in logistics and industrial manufacturing.
  • Performance-Driven Compensation: Competitive performance-based compensation structure featuring a 60/40 base-to-variable target split (pre-communicated privately prior to interview).
  • Autonomy & Impact: High level of ownership to manage your territory like a business within a global corporate group (LMI Technologies).

Our Recruitment Process

We believe in a transparent, candidate-centric recruitment process. Below is the standard journey for this position:

  • Talent Discovery (Human Resources): Initial conversation covering background, English and German language fluency, and mutual role fit.
  • Strategy & Vision (Hiring Manager): Deep-dive discussion with Managing Director focusing on your "hunter" experience, European territory strategy, and SI partner development plan for 2026/2027.
  • Peer & Collaboration (Sales & Engineering Leadership): Evaluation of technical depth, sales-engineering synergy, and experience navigating OEM/Tier-1/SI relationships with cross-functional leaders.
  • Executive Alignment (CEO): Possible final conversation with CEO on global expansion goals and long-term vision.
