As a Business Development Manager - Defence (ANZ) within Honeywell's Building Automation (BA) business, you will help drive growth and expand our presence in the Defence sector across Australia and New Zealand.

In this role, you will identify new business opportunities, build strong customer relationships, and develop strategies to grow Honeywell's full range of Building Automation solutions. You will work closely with the Strategic Sales team and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions that meet evolving market needs.

Success in this role requires strong business development skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to build trust with key stakeholders. Your contributions will support Honeywell's growth and strengthen our position as a trusted partner in the Defence industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute business development and sales strategies that support long-term growth across the Defence sector aligned with Honeywell's business objectives.
  • Achieving or exceed sales targets by growing market share and expanding Honeywell's presence
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Defence customers, consultants, contractors, EPCs, OEMs, partners, and industry associations.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product management, and sales teams to deliver customer-focused solutions and maximise growth opportunities.
  • Use customer insights and market intelligence to identify trends, shape business development strategies, and support future growth.
  • Represent Honeywell at industry events, customer meetings, and networking forums to enhance brand awareness and identify new opportunities.

Key Experience & Capabilities:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

Experience

  • 7+ years' experience in business development, strategic sales, or account management within the Defence, technology, building services, automation, infrastructure, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated, well-established network of relationships across the Australian Defence sector, including Defence stakeholders, prime contractors, industry partners, and key decision-makers, with a proven ability to leverage these networks to identify and secure new business opportunities.
  • Proven experience developing and executing growth strategies and successfully winning complex, high-value opportunities.
  • Experience working across a range of go-to-market models, including direct sales, channel partners, distributors, and systems integrators.

Professional Skills & Knowledge

  • Proven ability to use market intelligence, customer insights, and data to inform business decisions and growth strategies.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, partners, consultants, contractors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate insights into action.
  • Willingness to travel across Australia and New Zealand as required (up to 50%).

Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance. Candidates who currently hold an active Baseline Security Clearance will be highly regarded.
