Business Development Manager – DACH

Trays & Rigids

DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) · Full-time · Extensive regional travel – 6+ customer visits a week, Tuesday to Friday on the road

Are you a true hunter – energised by opening doors, winning new customers and owning your number? We’re looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to accelerate profitable growth across the DACH region for our Trays and Rigids businesses.

The role

This is new business, first and foremost. Your job is to identify, qualify and win new customers – building a strong pipeline and converting prospects into sustainable revenue, volume and margin. You’ll own your territory and your target, sell value rather than price, and work with pace, discipline and persistence. Success here is measured in front of customers, not behind a desk: an average of 6+ visits every week, Tuesday to Friday on the road, with Monday for planning and follow-up.

What you’ll do

  • Build and execute a clear territory plan for DACH across Trays and Rigids.
  • Identify, target and engage new customers and decision-makers – creating qualified opportunities and driving them decisively through the funnel to RFQs, trials and orders.
  • Own and beat agreed revenue, volume, contribution margin and new-business targets.
  • Lead customer conversations, proposals and negotiations – selling value while managing margin, cash and contractual risk.
  • Keep a healthy, honest pipeline with disciplined forecasting and consistent, accurate use of Salesforce.
  • Mobilise the right internal support across the business while retaining clear commercial ownership of the customer and outcome.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven success in a business development or hunter sales role within a complex B2B environment – a strong record of prospecting, opening doors and converting opportunities into profitable business.
  • Experience in packaging, food, manufacturing or another relevant technical industry (strongly preferred).
  • Strong value-selling, negotiation and influencing skills, and confidence using CRM and pipeline data to drive action.
  • Fluent German and English – both essential.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively across the DACH region – this is a field-based role built around being with customers.

Why this one’s different

This is a role for someone who wants to own a territory and build something. You’ll get clear goals, practical coaching and sales training, the tools and market insight to perform, and a competitive salary and bonus structure – with real recognition and progression for strong performers. If you’re relentless, resilient and prepared to outwork the competition, this is your number to own.
