Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing new commercial construction opportunities throughout the Southeast. This role serves as the primary point of contact during early client engagement, building strong relationships with developers, owners, and commercial real estate partners. The Business Development Manager represents our clients brand, values, and commitment to safety, quality, and execution excellence. Success in this role requires a proactive, self-driven mindset with the ability to create momentum from initial contact through executed contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and develop new commercial construction opportunities with developers, owners, and investors throughout targeted Southeast markets
  • Generate and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified leads through cold outreach, warm introductions, networking, industry events, and strategic follow-up
  • Lead early-stage client engagement, serving as the primary point of contact from initial introduction through contract execution
  • Conduct in-depth client consultations to understand project scope, budgets, timelines, and delivery goals
  • Effectively present firms value proposition, including safety culture, execution capabilities, and project experience
  • Support preconstruction efforts by assisting with conceptual budgeting, feasibility discussions, and early project positioning
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships that result in repeat business and referrals
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, estimating, and operations teams to transition opportunities into executed projects
  • Communicate client priorities, risks, and expectations clearly to internal teams to ensure alignment and continuity
  • Monitor regional market trends, competitor activity, and development pipelines to inform sales strategy
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline tracking, and sales forecasts
  • Provide regular pipeline updates, revenue projections, and pursuit status reports to leadership
  • Perform other business development–related responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or client acquisition within commercial construction, land development, or a related industry
  • 3+ years of demonstrated success closing complex, high-value projects is strongly preferred
  • Established network with developers, owners, investors, and commercial real estate professionals preferred
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction delivery methods, preconstruction processes, and development workflows
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable operating independently in a performance-based role
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple pursuits and priorities simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast as needed
