DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world’s most challenging technical problems in the Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems. Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others.

With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.

This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Sydney CBD. There are approximately 400 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 500 staff by end of 2025. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

About the role

DroneShieldis seeking aBusiness Development Manager (BDM)to support and accelerate revenue growth across theAPACregion. Based in Sydney, this rolerepresentsa key commercial position thatbridgesinsidesales executionandregional business development ownership.

Reporting to theSales Director, the BDM will work closely with senior sales leadership,Field ServiceEngineers, and regional teams across Australia, APAC, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.The role is ideal for someone ready to step beyond pure inside sales into a broader, externally focused position, while still remaining highly hands-on.

This is a role within a fast-scaling, technically complex business. The successful candidate will combine structured lead qualification, partner support, and opportunity management with increasing responsibility for account development, distributor engagement, and regional growth initiatives. While no formal engineering background isrequired, the role involves learning and working closely with sophisticated RF, sensor, and electronics-based systems.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Support and execute APAC business development and go-to-market initiatives
  • Create,prioritise, andmaintainstrategic target account lists across the region
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads, developing a strong understanding of customer needs and pain points
  • Conduct research into prospective customers, partners, and market segments
  • Engage in high-quality commercial conversations with government,defence, and enterprise stakeholders
  • Work withField ServiceEngineersand regional teams to coordinate meetings, demonstrations, and site visits
  • Maintain active engagement with prospects
  • Generate quotes and support opportunity progression through the sales pipeline
  • Assistwith distributor and end-customer training onDroneShieldproducts
  • RepresentDroneShieldat regional marketing events, exhibitions, and industry conferences whenrequired
  • Contribute to product documentation, manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Act as a reliable interface between customers, partners, and internal stakeholders

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Typically3–7 years’ experience in sales, business development, or a commercial role
  • Defence, security, or government sector exposure is well regarded but not mandatory
  • Experience working with distributors, resellers, or system integrators is highly valued
  • Technical degree isadvantageous; alternatively,demonstratedability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Proven ability to qualify opportunities and support deals through the sales lifecycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating across a geographically distributed team
  • Motivated self-starter witha strong senseof ownership and accountability
  • High attention to detail and strongorganisationalskills
  • Creative, lateral thinker comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
