The Opportunity

Our Bluescope Lysaght business is looking for a Business Development Manager to join the teambased in Wangara WA Made in Australia since 1921, Lysaght manufactures and markets Bluescope steel building products that have helped shape the nation: from iconic Colorbond ® roofing over Australian homes, to large commercial and industrial projects Lysaght has been at the forefront of innovation for over 100 years.

In this newly created opportunity, you will play a key role in shaping growthacross the commercial, defence, renewables and mining and industrial sectors in WA. With an extensive project pipeline this role will be at the leading edge of engagement with builders, contractors, engineers, designers and key industry associations across a diverse industry base. A strong emphasis on face-to-face relationship building is essential to this role.

Representing BlueScope Lysaght, your business acumen and extensive experience will drive you in developing a trusted and loyal customer base. An emphasis on current and future commercial, industrial and defence projects will form a focus for the right candidate.

You will be driving sales, as well as nurturing trusted partnerships, uncovering new opportunities and helping to create solutions that deliver real value for customers. Your insights and actions will directly influence our success in the market and make a lasting impact on both our business and the industries we serve.

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow valued customer relationships by delivering tailored, value-added solutions. The role involves regular site visits, some out-of-hours commitments, and attendance at events. You’ll have the autonomy and flexibility to manage your schedule to meet customer needs while balancing work commitments effectively.

What Will You Do?

You’ll engage, build and nurture positive relationships to influence decisions and build long-term partnerships within the region. You’ll also:

  • develop and deliver a sales plan aligned with national and state strategies
  • identify and convert new opportunities that expand our market presence and increase share of wallet within the building markets sector mentioned
  • work closely with sales, marketing, technical and customer service teams to deliver on account strategies
  • provide needed support and represent the business at key industry and trade networking events
  • maintain accurate reporting and documentation, using market intelligence and customer insights to shape strategies and identify new growth opportunities

You’ll bring:

  • the ability to engage and influence project stakeholders across a broad industry spectrum, promoting the specification and use of Lysaght products
  • excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to build long-term, trust-based relationships with customers and stakeholders at all levels
  • strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and negotiation skills to balance customer needs with business profitability
  • success in managing pricing strategies and growing customer portfolios
  • an ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and time management skills
  • experience using MS Office Suite and CRM tools to manage opportunities and create focus
