Based: United Kingdom
KGS are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager to support and grow our Commercial Fire Detection business in the UK, increase our market share as well as supporting our existing Sales Team. The role includes laying the foundations and help grow revenue as well as meeting the financial expectations of the Business Unit.
Role
In order to grow our products and services sold in the respective geographical area(s). The BDM activity will have the focus on identifying and targeting the following:
• End-user, OEM, Consultant, Architect and Insurance relationships
• Larger and strategic projects which are still in a development stage
• Developing and creating a market for our relevant new technologies
• High-valued products and services
• Geographical Area portfolio management
• Cross-segment/product line collaboration with other regional team members
• Cross-selling collaboration with relevant colleagues from other entities.
Experience in selling and specifying Fire Detection solutions in verticals applications such as commercial architect and main contractor opportunities.
The following is an outline of the work required and the personal attributes we are looking for in this person. The individual will be preferably located in Southern UK. Extensive travel will be needed within the United Kingdom.
The Fire Detection business is part of Kidde Global Solutions and the BDM will report to the Regional Country Manager for that business in the UK. Depending on the candidate and their location, work could be conducted from a suitably located local KGS office or be home based, or a combination of the two.
Product ranges and territory
Focus on Fire Detection, technical know-how of relevant systems along with proven sales achievement in this space is a must.

Tasks and details
• Report to the Regional Country Manager UK & Ireland
• Meet agreed sales and Gross Margin objectives both monthly and annually
• Comply with Kidde Global Solutions Ethics and compliance policies.
• Launch the Fire Detection Systems to architects, Consultants, end users.
• Identify new opportunities and partners, propose solutions and follow them through.
• Meet people at all levels as required to develop business – travelling to see them on a regular basis.
• Make regular visits / Identify Projects and follow through from conception to close.
• Prepare, submit and follow up quotations.
• Maintain customer records on CRM (Salesforce).
• Host seminars and training at customer premises and remotely
• Keep spending within budgets.
• Support Sales Team to ensure they meet and exceed their targets.
• Develop CPD content to best educate customers
Person Specification
• Strong sales experience developing new Fire Detection business to consultants, main contractors, distributors, system integrators and end users is highly desirable.
• Understanding local codes for fire detection systems
• Self motivated and work with the minimum of supervision and the ability to handle difficult and complicated situations.
• Enthusiastic and the ability to meet the challenges presented.
• Good knowledge and understanding of various software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Attention to detail and the ability to organize effectively.
• Ability to project a strong sense of confidence and expertise when proposing our solutions as the primary product to select or as alternatives to competitor proposals.
