Job Description

Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

Ready to own your patch and build something big?
This is a standout opportunity for a driven Telco Business Development Manager who thrives on winning new logos, owning relationships, and dominating the mid-market (20–500 employees). If chasing net adds, uncovering opportunity where others see noise, and being rewarded for performance fires you up — this role is built for you.

You’ll act as a trusted advisory solution seller, leveraging your Telco expertise across mobile services, IoT, Optus mobile broadband and post‑paid devices, backed by confidence using the UCRM platform. This is a hands-on, face‑to‑face sales role where new business wins, directly translate into recognition, reward, and accelerated career progression.

High performance is not only expected — it’s celebrated and unlocked with bigger opportunities.
If you’re a passionate Telco hunter who loves closing deals, and building momentum in a role where success leads to more influence, more scope, and more upside, this is your next move.

What You will Do

  • New Business Acquisition & Revenue Growth - Drive consistent new logo acquisition in the MM market (20–500 employees), identifying and converting high‑value opportunities to achieve and exceed Net adds and revenue targets across all product lines.
  • Pipeline Development & Management - Build, manage and maintain a balanced, sustainable sales pipeline through effective prospecting, segmentation, and CRM discipline to support short- and long-term sales goals.
  • Sales Strategy Execution & Territory Planning - Develop and execute effective sales strategies, demonstrating strong understanding of territory, market dynamics, and competitive landscape, with clear plans aligned to State Sales Manager expectations.
  • Customer Experience & Relationship Leadership - Deliver a trusted advisory sales experience that strengthens Optus’ brand in the MM segment, builds lasting relationships, and generates referrals through exceptional customer engagement.
  • Collaboration, CRM Accuracy & Lead Management - Work closely with internal teams to execute account plans, action all leads promptly, maintain 100% CRM accuracy, and ensure seamless handover and ongoing customer management.

What makes you perfect for the role?

  • Experience in a Business Development, with a strong track record of new business acquisition and account growth in mid‑market segments.
  • Proven success in Telecommunications (or closely aligned IT environment), with deep experience in relationship‑led, consultative solution sales and transactional selling.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, with the ability to understand customer business drivers and position compelling value propositions that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Strong sales performance history, consistently achieving or exceeding revenue, growth, and acquisition targets through disciplined pipeline and territory management.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills, able to engage credibly with senior decision‑makers and internal stakeholders.
  • High level of accountability, resilience, and personal drive, thriving in target‑driven, performance‑based environments.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working cross‑functionally to drive customer retention, cross‑sell, and long‑term loyalty.
  • Tertiary qualification in a business‑related discipline is desirable but not essential.

What’s in it for you?
