Business Development Director, Retail, Amsterdam

Are you an experienced business developer who enjoys opening new markets, building trusted client relationships, and turning complex challenges into impactful digital solutions?

We are looking for two Business Development Directors to grow Reaktor’s retail business in Amsterdam In this role, you will take a leading position in expanding our presence in the retail sector, developing strategic client relationships, and shaping new opportunities together with our multidisciplinary teams.

This role combines hands-on business development with strategic market building You will work closely with senior experts in design, technology, and strategy to identify opportunities, shape compelling client propositions, and win meaningful engagements with leading retail organizations.

Your Mission

Your mission is to establish and grow Reaktor’s retail footprint in Amsterdam by identifying, developing, and closing new client relationships and opportunities.

Success in the role includes:

  • Building a strong and sustainable sales pipeline within the retail sector

  • Expanding Reaktor’s brand awareness and market presence among retailers in the Netherlands

  • Developing trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders

  • Winning new client projects and establishing long-term partnerships

  • Contributing to the long-term growth of the retail business

You will have the opportunity to shape how we approach the retail market locally and influence how we position our capabilities to clients.

What You’ll Do

On a day-to-day basis, you may:

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with retail clients in Amsterdam and across Europe

  • Initiate and lead commercial discussions with senior client stakeholders

  • Develop client relationships and guide prospects through the opportunity lifecycle

  • Shape solution approaches together with Reaktor’s design, technology, and strategy experts

  • Lead proposal processes and commercial negotiations

  • Collaborate with colleagues to position Reaktor’s capabilities and thought leadership in the retail market

  • Represent Reaktor at industry events, client roundtables, and networking forums

  • Help refine our go-to-market approach and ways of working in retail

  • Ensure a strong transition from sales to delivery and support long-term account development

This role offers significant autonomy in how you build relationships and develop opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional with a strong track record in building new client relationships and closing complex engagements.

Key qualities include:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or client leadership within consulting, digital services, or technology environments

  • Strong ability to open doors, build trust, and develop long-term client partnerships

  • Experience leading consultative sales processes and shaping complex solution proposals

  • A commercial mindset combined with strategic thinking

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills across senior client stakeholders

  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams

  • Results-oriented and motivated by building lasting client impact

Experience working with custom software development, digital transformation, or complex technology services is highly relevant.

Experience working with global retail brands is particularly valuable.

An existing network within the Amsterdam or Dutch retail ecosystem is a strong advantage.
