Job Description

Director, Business Development – British Columbia

Territory: Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler and surrounding areas

Industry: Construction / Building Envelope

The Company

Our client is a well-established Canadian company specializing in construction and building envelope solutions.

With decades of experience delivering complex commercial, residential, industrial and institutional projects, the company has built a strong reputation for technical expertise, quality execution and long-term client relationships.

As part of its continued expansion in Western Canada, the company is looking to add a Director of Business Development to lead market development across British Columbia.

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the growth of an established organization entering an important expansion phase in British Columbia.

The company already has an operational presence in the region, active projects and an experienced internal team supporting project delivery. The successful candidate will focus on accelerating business development, strengthening relationships with key industry stakeholders and building a strong pipeline of future opportunities.

You will have significant autonomy in developing the territory while working closely with senior leadership and internal technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy for Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler and surrounding markets.
  • Identify new commercial, residential, institutional and industrial project opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including:
  • General contractors;
  • Real estate developers and property owners;
  • Engineering firms and consultants;
  • Building envelope and construction professionals.
  • Prospect for new business through networking, meetings, site visits, industry events and direct outreach.
  • Increase the company's visibility and presence within the British Columbia construction market.
  • Develop a strong network of construction executives, estimators, project managers, consultants and decision-makers.
  • Understand clients' technical requirements and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal project management, estimating and leadership teams to develop proposals and pursue opportunities.
  • Manage the business development process from initial contact through contract award.
  • Maintain a structured pipeline and provide visibility on upcoming opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, upcoming projects and competitive activity.
  • Contribute to the company's long-term growth strategy in Western Canada.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is well connected within the British Columbia construction industry and has a proven ability to develop long-term business relationships.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in business development, technical sales or client development within the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of building envelope, waterproofing, insulation, roofing or another related construction field.
  • An established network of general contractors, developers, consultants, engineers or other industry stakeholders in British Columbia.
  • A proven ability to develop new markets and generate business opportunities.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • A consultative and strategic approach to sales.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage a territory with a high degree of autonomy.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and strong business instincts.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Experience directly related to the building envelope industry would be considered a strong asset. However, candidates coming from related sectors within construction who have a strong network and demonstrated business development abilities will also be considered.

Who Will Thrive in This Role

This opportunity is ideal for someone who:

  • Enjoys building relationships and developing new markets.
  • Prefers being in the field and meeting clients rather than working exclusively from an office.
  • Is highly autonomous and entrepreneurial.
  • Enjoys identifying opportunities and turning relationships into business.
  • Has a strong presence within the construction industry.
  • Is motivated by growth and the opportunity to make a real impact.
  • Wants to play a key role in the expansion of an established organization.

What the Company Offers

  • A strategic leadership role within the company's expansion in British Columbia.
  • A territory with significant long-term growth potential.
  • An established operational presence and internal team to support project delivery.
  • The support of experienced project management, estimating and technical teams.
  • Significant autonomy in managing the territory and developing the market.
  • Direct access to senior leadership.
  • A highly competitive and flexible compensation package based on experience and market knowledge.
  • A compensation structure that may include a base salary and performance-based incentives.
  • A company vehicle or vehicle allowance.
  • A company phone and the tools required to succeed in the role.
  • The opportunity to have a direct impact on the company's growth in Western Canada.
  • A dynamic, entrepreneurial and people-focused work environment.

Why This Opportunity?

This is more than a traditional sales role.

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a growing territory, leverage an established company's expertise and reputation, and play a defining role in building its long-term presence in British Columbia.

The company already has the operational capabilities and internal resources required to support continued growth. The focus now is on finding the right person to develop relationships, create opportunities and build a sustainable pipeline across the region.

If you have a strong network within British Columbia's construction industry and are excited by the opportunity to develop a market with significant potential, we would like to hear from you.

Builder Helper – Collaborative Heavy Equipment Rental Platform

About Builder Helper – Collaborative Heavy Equipment Rental Platform

Builder Helper was born from a simple observation: in construction, millions of dollars sit idle every month in equipment parked in yards, while other contractors pay full price for the exact same machines.

Our mission is clear: turn waste into value. Builder Helper directly connects contractors to rent equipment, whether operated or non-operated. The result: owners turn idle assets into revenue, users gain fast and affordable access to the right machines, and the entire industry becomes more efficient and agile.

Behind Builder Helper is the team at Buildup Recruitment, a firm specialized for over 8 years in talent acquisition for Quebec’s construction ecosystem. We know the realities of the field, the labor challenges, and the financial pressures contractors face. That’s what drove us to build a solution designed for the industry, by the industry.

To bring this vision to life, we partnered with Third Bridge, a cutting-edge technology team that designs and develops our platform. Their expertise in digital products allows us to deliver a robust, user-friendly tool perfectly tailored to contractors’ needs.

Builder Helper is where deep knowledge of the construction sector meets technological innovation. Together, we aim to make collaboration a performance driver for all builders.
