Job Description

Build Relationships. Create Connections. Help Drive What's Next.

Great business development doesn't start with a sales pitch. It starts with relationships, curiosity, follow-through, and being in the right rooms with a genuine interest in the people you meet.

Granger Construction is looking for a Business Development Coordinator to join our Metro Detroit team in Corktown. This role will work alongside our Business Development and regional leadership teams to strengthen relationships, support strategic growth initiatives, coordinate client and industry engagement, and help keep the momentum moving behind the scenes.

And because our Corktown office is an important hub for our team and customers, you'll also help create an organized, welcoming environment where people want to connect.

If you're energized by meeting people, making connections, staying organized, and being the person who turns "we should do that" into "it's handled," this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

Help Build Relationships

Support client engagement and business development initiatives throughout Metro Detroit, helping our team develop and strengthen relationships with customers, partners, and community organizations.

Get Connected

Represent Granger through select industry organizations, conferences, networking opportunities, sponsorships, and community events.

Keep the Momentum Going

Coordinate client meetings and business development activities, maintain our CRM and client information, track follow-ups, and help make sure opportunities don't lose momentum.

Know the Market

Support market research, client intelligence, competitive insights, and conference strategy to help our team better understand where opportunities are developing.

Bring the Details Together

Partner with our Marketing & Communications team on presentations, project information, client materials, promotional items, and event needs.

Make Corktown Feel Like Granger

Help keep our Metro Detroit office organized, welcoming, and ready for customers and teammates, from coordinating meetings and visitors to supporting office events and day-to-day needs.

Support the Team

Help regional leaders and project teams coordinate meetings, special initiatives, training, events, and other needs that keep the business moving.

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in business development, marketing coordination, client relations, executive support, office coordination, or a related role
  • Strong organization and the ability to keep multiple priorities moving at once
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A professional, relationship-focused approach when interacting with customers and community partners
  • Strong initiative and follow-through. You notice what needs to happen and help make it happen.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and CRM tools
  • Ability to occasionally travel for client meetings, conferences, networking opportunities, and industry events
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Construction, architecture, engineering, or professional services experience
  • Experience supporting business development or sales teams
  • Event, conference, or sponsorship coordination experience
  • Experience maintaining CRM data and tracking client opportunities
  • Existing familiarity with the Metro Detroit business or AEC community

What Makes You Successful

  • You're a relationship builder. You genuinely enjoy connecting with people and helping relationships grow.
  • You're proactive. You don't need every next step spelled out before you take action.
  • You follow through. If you say you'll handle something, people know it will get done.
  • You know details matter. From a client meeting to a CRM update, you take pride in getting the little things right.
  • You're comfortable wearing a few hats. An industry event one day and an office meeting the next sounds interesting, not chaotic.
  • You're collaborative. You enjoy working across Business Development, Operations, Marketing, and project teams.
  • You represent the brand well. You're comfortable being one of the people customers and community partners associate with Granger.

Why Granger?

At Granger, we believe strong businesses are built on strong relationships, and you'll have a front-row seat to both.

  • Platinum-level healthcare coverage
  • Strong 401(k) employer match
  • Paid time off
  • Paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO)
  • Wellness resources supporting physical, mental, financial, and community well-being
  • Career development and continuous learning supported by actionable feedback and meaningful growth conversations
  • Opportunities to build relationships throughout the Metro Detroit business community
  • A collaborative culture grounded in trust, relationships, and doing things the right way
