Position Type: Full TimePurpose:

FinWise Bank partners with innovative fintech companies to deliver card, payment and lending programs. The Business Development Associate plays a critical support role within the commissioned sales team, driving the front end of the partner pipeline — identifying prospective fintech partners, managing early-stage outreach, and keeping deals organized and moving through the sales process.

This is an entry-level position designed as the first step on a defined career path toward a Business Development leadership role (VP level). The person in this role will gain hands-on exposure to how bank-fintech partnerships are sourced, evaluated, and closed — including direct visibility into deal economics, partner due diligence, and relationship management in a regulated banking environment.

Tasks

Lead Identification & Pipeline Development

  • Working with the Business Development team, research and identify prospective fintech companies that align with FinWise's payments, lending, and card program partnership criteria.
  • Maintain and update the CRM system (HubSpot)/pipeline tracker with accurate, current prospect information. Create reports with actionable insights from the CRM system.
  • Support qualification of inbound leads against baseline fit criteria (business model, target market, funding stage, etc.)

Initial Prospect Communication

  • Conduct first-touch outreach to prospective partners via email, LinkedIn, and phone.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries and route qualified prospects to the appropriate senior BD team member.
  • Schedule and coordinate introductory calls and meetings between prospects and the commissioned sales team.
  • Draft and send follow-up communications to keep prospects engaged between touchpoints.

Sales Process Support

  • Organize and track active deals through each stage of the sales process, flagging stalled opportunities.
  • Prepare meeting materials, briefing documents, and prospect summaries for the sales team ahead of calls.
  • Coordinate internal scheduling across sales, compliance, and product stakeholders as deals progress.
  • Maintain organized records of prospect communications, meeting notes, and next steps.
  • Assist with light preliminary research on prospective partners (business model, market position, public information) to support the sales team's evaluation process.
  • Draft preliminary program summaries and fund flow analyses.

Learning & Development

  • Develop working knowledge of card, payment, and lending partnership fundamentals.
  • Shadow senior BD team members on prospect and partner calls.
  • Participate in internal training on FinWise's partnership structures, compliance considerations, and deal economics.
  • Take on increasing ownership of prospect relationships as skills and industry knowledge develop.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 2+ years of professional experience (sales, or client-facing roles are a plus.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to track multiple prospects/deals simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with outbound communication and prospect-facing interaction.
  • Proficiency with standard office and CRM tools (e.g., Outlook, HubSpot or similar).
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn a technical, regulated industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel is a plus.

Required Education / Experience / License

  • BA/BS or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Education /Experience / License

  • Knowledge of the fintech market beneficial.
  • Sales experience is preferred.

Minimum Essential Requirements

  • Sit or stand at a computer for extended periods of time and look at a computer screen for several hours a day.
  • Effectively ommunicate with others in person, on the phone, through virtual meetings and email.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Lift 20 lbs.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Some travel overnight to visit prospects, key partners, and industry trade shows as required.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
