We hope you’ll consider joining us as you explore a career at Magnetar!

Magnetar is seeking a driven, intellectually curious Business Development Analyst to join our team in our Evanston or New York office. This individual will work closely with senior Business Development professionals to support the full scope of the Firm's investor relations and fundraising efforts — including marketing materials, investor communications, operational due diligence, and targeted prospecting campaigns.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with a genuine passion for finance and client relationships, who thrives in a fast-paced, intellectually demanding environment and is eager to leverage emerging technology and AI tools to drive efficiency and impact.

Responsibilities

As an integral member of the Business Development team at Magnetar, the Analyst will be responsible for the following:

  • Helping to create and update marketing materials, including presentations, tear sheets, and DDQs
  • Creating presentations for investor meetings, diligence and reporting purposes
  • Supporting marketing roadshows and discrete fundraising campaigns, including coordination of meetings and providing requested materials
  • Supporting and helping to coordinate investor Operational Due Diligence meetings
  • Completing follow-up items from both investor and internal meetings, including any investor questionnaires and portfolio data requests
  • Assisting in servicing existing investors and helping to build relationships with key junior members of investor’s staff
  • Leveraging AI and data tools to extract actionable insights from market intelligence, and partnering with Senior team members to design targeted investor prospecting and campaign strategies
  • Monitoring and delivering on relevant investor reporting obligations
  • Managing cross-functional projects and workstreams across the IRBD team, including tracking deliverables, timelines, and stakeholder follow-ups
  • Identifying opportunities to create efficiencies in standard IRBD processes through the use of AI tools and automation

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Economics (or a closely related business degree) with strong academic performance record
  • 1-3 years of total work experience in the financial services industry with a preference for experience in an Investment Banking seat or Investor Relations role with an asset manager, preferably in alternatives (such as a hedge fund, fund of fund or private equity firm)
  • Exposure to working with institutional clients and investors a plus
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Intellectually curious with a willingness to experiment with emerging technology and apply new tools to solve business problems
  • Positive attitude with willingness to contribute however and wherever possible
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, maturity and self-confidence to represent Magnetar both internally and externally
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative to identify problems and build solutions, and proactively seeks ways to improve team processes and efficiency
  • A strong sense of ownership, obligation, and personal accountability

The annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $140,000 USD. The actual base salary will depend upon the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, business needs and market. This role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus and if awarded is based on a variety of factors including firm and individual performance.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
