We are seeking a driven Business Developer / BDR to generate new business and build strong relationships with local employers throughout the Shawnee market.

This is a high-activity, field-focused sales position for someone who enjoys prospecting, meeting business leaders face-to-face, uncovering needs, and turning opportunities into new client relationships. The ideal candidate is persistent, organized, confident approaching decision-makers, and skilled at consultative selling.

Success requires a strong work ethic, disciplined territory management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to consistently move prospects through the sales pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Generate an average of 2 new clients per week
  • Identify and qualify prospective clients by assessing business needs, timing, and purchasing requirements.
  • Engage business owners, managers, HR professionals, and other key decision-makers through phone and in-person prospecting.
  • Recognize buying signals and conduct effective discovery to uncover staffing needs.
  • Secure meetings and facilitate timely handoffs of qualified opportunities to the appropriate internal team members.
  • Educate prospective clients on available staffing solutions, processes, and onboarding requirements.

Prospecting & Sales Activity

  • Maintain a high level of outbound prospecting through cold calling, face-to-face visits, networking, referrals, and other business development activities.
  • Complete approximately 120 weekly sales calls/activities, including significant face-to-face prospecting.
  • Conduct a minimum of 60 meaningful decision-maker conversations per week
  • Schedule and conduct at least 5 strategic prospect meetings per week
  • Accurately document sales activities, outcomes, and next steps in the company’s sales system.
  • Consistently follow up with prospects to maintain momentum throughout the sales process.

Territory & Pipeline Management

  • Develop and execute a structured sales action plan for the assigned territory.
  • Prospect and qualify approximately 800–1,000 accounts per quarter
  • Identify high-potential prospects that could convert into clients within the next 90 days.
  • Maintain a targeted list of priority accounts and execute consistent outreach strategies.
  • Divide the assigned market into manageable geographic territories to maximize field productivity.
  • Plan daily activities around appointments and nearby prospecting opportunities.
  • Maintain an accurate and active sales pipeline.

Consultative Selling & Relationship Development

  • Use active listening, effective questioning, and consultative selling techniques to understand client challenges.
  • Stay informed about local employment and labor-market trends to provide relevant insights to prospective clients.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to solve client workforce challenges.
  • Develop existing client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
  • Participate in approved local business and professional organizations to develop relationships and generate leads.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with internal recruiting and employment teams to ensure qualified opportunities transition smoothly into active client relationships.
  • Communicate territory plans, opportunities, client needs, and market intelligence with internal team members.
  • Share leads and opportunities promptly to support successful job-order fulfillment.
  • Maintain consistent communication regarding daily field activities and priorities.

Compliance & Professional Development

  • Conduct business in accordance with company policies and applicable federal and state employment regulations.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of the staffing and recruiting industry through training, coaching, and ongoing development.
  • Represent the organization professionally during all client and community interactions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of B2B sales, business development, outside sales, territory sales, or similar experience
  • Strong prospecting and cold-calling skills.
  • Comfortable conducting frequent face-to-face prospecting and field sales visits
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business and build relationships with decision-makers.
  • Strong consultative selling, discovery, and objection-handling skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, persistent, organized, and comfortable working toward activity and performance goals.
  • Ability to independently plan and manage a geographic sales territory.
  • Strong follow-up and CRM/pipeline management habits.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
  • Ability to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous staffing, recruiting, workforce solutions, HR services, payroll, PEO, or related B2B service sales experience.
  • Experience generating business through networking and community involvement.
  • Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding new-business or sales activity goals.
  • Experience selling to business owners, HR leaders, operations managers, or other organizational decision-makers.

Working Conditions

This position requires substantial time in the field visiting prospective and existing clients. Work may be performed in professional office, industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, and similar business environments.

Regular local driving is required, including travel during varying weather and road conditions. The position also requires the ability to manage deadlines, client commitments, sales targets, and a high level of daily activity.

Candidates must be able to carry necessary sales and marketing materials and navigate client facilities, including stairs where applicable.
