Opportunities may include: Business Developer based in São Paulo (BRA)

The Business Developer is a hybrid Sales and Marketing professional responsible for identifying, developing, and commercializing growth opportunities that drive profitable business expansion.

Acting as the bridge between market strategy and commercial execution, the Business Developer translates market insights, customer needs, competitive intelligence, and innovation platforms into actionable growth opportunities. The role requires a unique combination of strategic thinking and tactical execution, working closely with Sales, Marketing, TS&D, Product Management, Supply Chain, and customers to move opportunities from idea to commercialization.

Unlike a traditional salesperson focused primarily on account management or a marketer focused primarily on strategy and promotion, the Business Developer operates at the intersection of both disciplines, owning the growth agenda and orchestrating cross-functional efforts required to bring new business to life.

A key aspect of the role is the proactive identification and development of new channels, market segments, and routes-to-market that expand Dow's reach and accelerate growth. The Business Developer also serves as a global connector across Dow's commercial and marketing networks, actively collaborating with colleagues from different regions to identify growth opportunities in new geographies, applications, and end-use markets by leveraging the full Dow portfolio and innovation pipeline.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Market Development

  • Identify attractive growth spaces, emerging trends, unmet customer needs, and competitive opportunities.

  • Develop market segment strategies that align customer challenges with Dow's technology and innovation pipeline.

  • Translate business strategy into actionable growth plans and commercialization priorities.

  • Leverage market intelligence, customer insights, and industry trends to identify future growth opportunities.

  • Partner with Marketing to shape value propositions, market positioning, and growth campaigns.

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new channels, distribution models, and route-to-market strategies to accelerate business growth and expand market coverage.

  • Collaborate with global marketing, commercial, and business development teams to identify successful market models, emerging applications, and growth opportunities that can be replicated or adapted across regions.

  • Drive portfolio expansion by identifying opportunities to introduce additional Dow technologies, innovation platforms, and value-added solutions into existing and new markets.

Opportunity Creation & Commercialization:

  • Build, qualify, and advance a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.

  • Lead opportunities from ideation through qualification, customer validation, and commercialization.

  • Support the execution of new product launches, innovation adoption programs, and strategic growth initiatives.

  • Coordinate development plans and remove barriers that may slow customer adoption.

  • Drive conversion of opportunities into sustainable revenue and margin growth.

  • Develop and execute growth initiatives focused on entering new applications, market segments, and geographic markets leveraging the full Dow portfolio.

  • Identify white-space opportunities where innovation, portfolio breadth, or new business models can create competitive advantage and unlock incremental growth.

Customer Engagement & Market Presence:

  • Work directly with customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders to identify growth opportunities.

  • Conduct strategic customer discussions focused on future needs, innovation roadmaps, and business challenges.

  • Support sales teams in value-selling conversations and growth opportunity development.

  • Represent Dow at industry events, technical forums, and customer workshops.

  • Act as a trusted advisor capable of discussing commercial, application, and strategic business topics.

  • Engage distributors, channel partners, industry influencers, and ecosystem stakeholders to identify emerging opportunities and accelerate adoption of Dow solutions.

  • Build and maintain a strong external network capable of uncovering future market opportunities, unmet needs, and new routes for growth.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Serve as the primary integrator between Sales, Marketing, and TS&D.

  • Work with TS&D to connect customer needs with technical solutions and accelerate product qualification.

  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop campaigns, thought leadership, customer engagement programs, and lead generation activities.

  • Align with Sales teams to prioritize opportunities, develop account growth plans, and execute commercialization strategies.

  • Coordinate with Product Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Customer Service to ensure successful implementation of growth initiatives.

  • Establish strong connections with global business, marketing, and application development teams to exchange best practices, market intelligence, customer insights, and innovation opportunities.

  • Facilitate the transfer of successful business models, application developments, and commercialization approaches across regions to maximize growth potential

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on commercial execution capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and develop new market channels and business models.

  • Proven experience in business development, market development, commercialization, or growth-focused roles.

  • Strong customer engagement, networking, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to translate customer and market insights into executable growth strategies.

  • Global mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across regions, cultures, and functions.

  • Ability to connect market needs with a broad portfolio of products, technologies, and innovation platforms.

  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving Sales, Marketing, TS&D, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a proven track record of delivering profitable growth.

  • Ability to identify new applications, adjacent markets, and geographic expansion opportunities for existing and emerging technologies.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments while independently driving growth initiatives from concept through commercialization.
