Main purpose of the position

The Business Controller role is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and complex environment as part of ISS’ Life Science segment, supporting our Danish operations from our Global Finance setup in Gdansk.

You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality financial management, transparency, and operational support, empowering Operations Leaders to make informed decisions and drive strong contract performance.

This role presents a unique opportunity to combine classic business controlling with close collaboration with operations in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete invoicing in line with contractual agreements
  • Secure a timely and reliable month-end close with high data quality
  • Proactively identify financial deviations and drive corrective actions
  • Demonstrate ownership and ability to operate independently
  • Deliver transparent and value-adding financial reporting with clear deviation analysis
  • Build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and actively challenge performance
  • Navigate complex processes while maintaining a strong execution focus
  • Ensure correct and timely invoicing, including proactive handling of discrepancies
  • Prepare and deliver recurring financial reporting with clear business insights
  • Own and execute month-end closing activities in compliance with ISS standards
  • Act as a finance partner to operations, supporting decision-making and performance improvement
  • Provide hands-on operational execution
  • Maintain high data quality and ensure adherence to internal controls and processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and workflows

Key qualifications:

Experience

  • Relevant experience within business controlling, financial analysis, or similar
  • Solid understanding of financial processes, reporting, and accounting principles
  • Experience working in a complex and operationally driven environment is an advantage
  • Experience in an international or matrix organization is a plus

Skills

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with attention to detail
  • Structured and execution-focused with the ability to deliver in complex setups
  • Self-driven and proactive, able to operate without detailed guidelines or SOPs
  • Analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actions
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Resilient and persistent, with a hands-on approach to both tactical and operational tasks
  • Flexible and comfortable working across geographies and cultures

Personal skills you excel:

  • Are an advanced user of the Microsoft 365 Office suite
  • Have experience with SAP (considered an advantage)
  • Having knowledge of OneStream (considered an advantage)
  • Are comfortable with travel to customer sites and ISS Denmark’s head office
