Job Description

The Business Banking teamactively calls on businesses that typically have annual revenue between $1MM and $20MM.The team includes relationship managers, client managers officers, treasury management officers and others that provide a suite of products and services that serve companies of this size. Theobjectiveof the group is to earn the title oftrustedadvisor and help these companies grow and prosper in our community.

As the Business Banking Relationship Manager I, you willbe responsible formanagingthe strategicclient relationships in Business Banking which will include managing an existing portfolio of business and the acquisition of new businessClientsgenerally arebetween $1MM and $10MM in annual revenue.

Howyou’llspend your time: 

  • You will generate,retain, & expand lending,investmentand depositrelationshipswith new and existing clients through client referrals, centers of influence & direct prospecting.
  • You will develop, generate and follow-up on new client leadsthrough existing clients, client referrals, COI referrals, & prospecting.
  • You will manage overall relationship profitability & portfolio risk andisresponsible forprofitable growth of the portfolio assigned (includesloans, deposits, & fee income)Act as a consultant to clients and a resource to the Bank in developing &retainingbusiness.
  • You will provideinsight& ideasfor enhancing client relationships, client cash flow, profitability, and efficiency.
  • You will manage the overall credit quality ofassignedportfolio (includessales, credit analysis, loan structuring,clientand prospect interviews).
  • You willmonitor& manage existing credit relationship, which includes note renewals, reviewing & detailed analysis of current financial statements & collateral valuations, credit analysis, cash flow analysis, delinquency reporting, documenting exceptions & covenant monitoring, compiling reports necessary tomonitorasset & credit quality and compliance with policy/regulation.
  • You will negotiate loan proposals, analyze & evaluate credit requests & write loan commitments, recommendappropriate creditgrade, make oral/writtenpresentationtounderwriteror loancommittee, and implement approval/declinationaction
  • You will serve as the primary link for all financial services to the individual Business Banking client with the bank (i.e.Treasury Services, International, Trust, and Cash Vault).
  • You willparticipatein community & professional activitiesin order toenhance the bank’s image and expandpersonalnetwork of business contacts fordevelopmentof new business.
  • You willmonitoraccounts toidentifypotential credit problems andassureproper loan documentationCustomers tend to have complicated lending requirements involving term loan agreements, commercial real estate, and revolving credit lines.
  • You will communicate and collaborate with consistency and transparency with business banking teams and internal partners.
  • You will consistently use andmaintainCRM usage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • YoupossessaBachelorsdegree OR equivalent work experience
  • You have2 yearsproven business banking sales experience
  • Youdemonstratestrategic sales knowledge selling to small business owners
  • Youdemonstratebusiness banking product knowledge and product innovation
  • You have awareness of market/industry trends
  • Youdemonstrateabilityto source/produce efficient credit opportunities.
  • You have knowledge and understanding of commercial lending practices and loan documentation/loan servicing requirements
  • You have knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • You havedemonstratedcapacityto sell products/services within the financial services industry
  • Youdemonstrateproficiencyin Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Bonus points if:

  • YoupossessaBachelor’s degree in accountingor finance
  • You have basic credit training
  • You understand strategic sales planning to define target markets, strategic sales approaches, and provide solutions
  • You have specialized knowledge of specific marketsin order toserve defined industries.
  • You haveabilityto prospect and network at various levels within a company
  • You have enhancedcommunication and negotiation skills for more complex deals and relationships
  • You manage time effectively to balance new& existing relationships to meet goals
  • You haveunderstandingof credit underwriting
  • You have knowledge of credit and operational risk-ability to quantify potential exposure and advise team
  • Youdemonstrateknowledge of financial analysis (including ratio and trend analysis and projections)

Compensation Range:

$56,890.00 - $109,270.00

The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB’s standard for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
