The Business Banking Operations Leader –Mid West is responsible for leading –focused operational execution across a large, geographically dispersed retail banking market. This role partners closely with Business Banking Sales Market Leaders to ensure high-quality operational delivery, regulatory compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement.

The role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to mobilize effectively across a complex, multi-state footprint.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Directly and through staff, manage and coordinate Business Banking Sales–focused operational activities across the assigned market
  • Develop and execute market-wide operational strategies aligned with enterprise and Business Banking Sales objectives
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality operational support for all internal and external customers

Talent & People Leadership

  • Set clear expectations, provide ongoing performance feedback, and drive accountability and development
  • Effectively manage workflows across a team operating independently across multiple locations

Partnership & Communication

  • Serve as a trusted operational advisor to Business Banking Sales Market Leaders
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key partners including HR, Security, Facilities, and Risk
  • Influence without authority to drive alignment, execution, and issue resolution across the market

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal and state regulations, including BSA, OFAC, Patriot Act, and Fair Lending
  • Oversee compliance with company policies and procedures through strong communication, issue identification, monitoring, and resolution
  • Partner closely with first-, second-, and third-line risk teams to proactively manage operational risk

Change Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive change leadership and operational efficiency through automation, analytics, and standardized practices
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to enhance consistency, scalability, and customer experience across markets
  • Lead and/or participate in enterprise-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects

Crisis Management

  • Coordinate crisis management response within the market, ensuring timely communication, resolution, and escalation as appropriate

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including retail/banking operations
  • Solid understanding of banking regulations including BSA, OFAC, Patriot Act, and Fair Lending
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Proven success in developing and executing strategies aligned with enterprise business objectives
  • Experience leading teams across a large, multi-state geographic footprint
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize quickly and consistently across teams
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience leading teams through organizational change
  • Ability to balance and prioritize competing business objectives effectively
  • Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment
  • Strong customer-centric mindset with a collaborative leadership style
  • Experience working in agile or continuous improvement environments

Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
