Job Description

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Perform a broad range of administrative and clerical duties with a primary focus on facility access control at RSLA. Key responsibilities include building access control, managing visitor logs, maintaining security databases, and monitoring facility access points and surveillance cameras. Additional duties include supporting emergency response activities and providing assistance to maintain a safe and secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control entry and exit points of the facility, ensuring only authorized individuals gain access. Acquire required information from visiting personnel and submit short -term visitor requests to Base security.
  • Coordinate with security and facility personnel regarding daily activities and visitor access.
  • Greet visitors, verify their identity, purpose of visit, and issue visitor badges or access passes.
  • Maintain visitor access records to support safety and security protocols.
  • Maintain a daily record of staff entering the building to support safety and security protocols.
  • Conduct inspections of items being brought into the facility by employees and visitors to ensure adherence to the prohibited articles policy.
  • Observe and report to the security staff any security violations and unusual or potentially threatening behavior.
  • Provide administrative support as directed to include answering phones; generating and maintaining calendar appointments; maintaining files, to include records management requirements; processing procurements; and handling general reception duties while maintaining a security focus.
  • Assist with enforcing facility safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of basic math, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to use a computer, printer, copier, telephone, fax machine, calculator, and other general office equipment. Working knowledge of software applications included in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and follow through on all assignments.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience in interpreting data and performing work where established procedures may not be specific, using some creativity and initiative.
  • Ability to plan/organize work to complete in the most efficient manner and meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with pressure of handling multiple tasks, complaints, frequent interruptions, and time constraints.
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm during emergencies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse visitors and staff.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in high-volume environments.
  • The primary work location will be at the Remote Sensing Laboratory located at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
  • Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday. (subject to change)
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Hourly Salary range for this position is: $21.24 - $31.86

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
