Responsibilities
The Business Architect of Public Safety will provide expert technical sales support and engineering services for NWN's robust Public Safety portfolio, assisting with client needs analysis, solution design, proposal generation, scope of work development, and maintaining strategic relationships with key partners. This role serves as a critical technical advisor and liaison to support the sales team within the niche public safety market (NG911, PSAPs, emergency communications).
- Act as the lead technical resource during the presales process, working closely with the sales team as the key advisor on Public Safety solutions.
- Drive technology evaluation stages, including client discovery (on-site/remote), requirements gathering, solution architecture, and presentations.
- Develop detailed Scopes of Work (SOW), Bill of Materials (BOM), system designs, and proposals for complex NG911, cloud-based call handling, recording/analytics, CAD, mapping, location services, cybersecurity, and AI-enhanced emergency communications solutions.
- Turn around accurate quotes efficiently and support the full sales cycle from discovery through implementation and post-sale technical assistance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor partners while collaborating with NWN’s Product Management team.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams including EMP (Experience Management Platform), networking, cybersecurity, visual collaboration, managed services, and other groups to deliver integrated solutions and accelerate deal closure.
- Attend onsite customer meetings, industry events and presentations with sales reps.
- Identify and resolve technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction across the sales and delivery process.
- Demonstrate continued technical expertise through vendor certifications and deliver training to sales teams and customers as needed.
- Contribute to proposal development, RFP responses, and technical documentation tailored to public safety agencies (primary/secondary PSAPs, government, schools, campuses, enterprises, and hospitals).
- Possess solid business acumen skills: Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving, Communication Effectiveness & Influence, Financial Literacy, Analytical Skills, Risk/Exposure Evaluation, Critical Thinking, etc. Position requires on-going self-study to continuously improve skills relative to strategic technology direction and service offerings. Recurring report requirements may include but are not limited to: time sheets, expense reports, billable time sheets, task completion documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems or related experience. Required
- 4-6 years of experience in a technical leadership role on small to medium size projects in the areas of integration or support services. Required
- 5+ Years Minimum hands-on experience designing complex communications systems. Required
- 5+ years of experience in Public Safety communications, preferably with deep knowledge of Motorola Solutions (VESTA 9-1-1/VESTA NXT call handling) and NG911 ecosystems. Required
- Proven experience as a Sales Engineer or Solution Architect in the public safety/SLED space, with a track record of supporting complex sales cycles, quote development, and deal closure. Required.
- Strong working knowledge of emergency communications technologies including cloud-based call handling, CAD, recording/analytics, location services (e.g., RapidSOS), AI triage/automation, cybersecurity, and related integrations.
- Experience with partner ecosystems and cross-functional collaboration in a solutions provider environment.
- Familiarity with IP communications, networking, security, virtualization, and data center solutions.
- Ability to architect cost-effective, reliable, and supportable designs based on client needs and industry best practices.
- Vendor certifications in Public Safety technologies (e.g., Motorola-related) preferred; AVIXA, Cisco, or similar a plus.
- Various industry certification completion (i.e: CCNP, CCDP, or equivalent, EMC, VMWare, Citrix, NetApp, or HPe written Certification (i.e. EMC Proven Professional, VSTP)). Required
- Defined area of Specialization supported by certification or equivalent experience (i.e. Route Switch, VoIP, Unified Communications, Contact Center, Wireless, Server, Storage, Virtualization, Backup and Recovery, VDI). Required
