We are seeking an experienced technical and strategic Business Analyst with management experience to help drive the discovery and definition of core products to enable us to continue to build the Global Data organization’s foundational data platforms. The ideal candidate should have experience managing small to medium sized teams, be responsible for work and capacity management, and be comfortable speaking to stakeholders across a diverse set of businesses. They should take initiative in driving value in business operation and internal and external customers and drive engagement within domain leaders and external teams.
The Business Analyst manager will manage a team of Business Analysts, whose responsibility it is to be the bridge between business and technical teams, to specify what the business user wants, if feasible financially and technically, and to advise what might not be feasible. They will be responsible for continually managing individual team performance, as well as upskilling the team to meet the needs of advancing and changing technologies in the data space. The idea candidate will be value-oriented and have the ability to inspire and motivate teams to collaborate effectively and produce high quality work.
Business Analysts need to understand the end-to-end solution, and act as the voice of the business from a technology perspective. They should meet with the business SME and not only understand what the business wants but educate the business SME on the value of the Global Data organization and what the correct approach is, empowering the business SME to get what they want from a solution.
Specifying user requirements in the Global Data team is often about identifying which attributes the business user needs in the source system, as well as the details on when and how the business needs these attributes. Business Analysts need to ensure these attributes are correct, and that should include testing, especially if transformations or filters on those attributes are required. They may also need to guide the QA team on how to test attributes. Testing can be done by the Business Analyst querying the source data and sense checking with the business requestor.
The Business Analyst may not know the source attributes or the nature of the source, so it's important the Business Analyst has a meeting with the source SME and business requestor to confirm source attributes and transformations.
