Job Description

This is a fully onsite position based in Houston, TX. Candidates must be local to the Houston area or willing to relocate prior to their start date. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role.

The IT Business Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and translating business requirements into scalable technology solutions, with a primary focus on the RentalMan ERP platform. This role serves as the critical liaison between business stakeholders and IT, ensuring that system capabilities align with operational needs across rental, sales, service, and finance functions.

The analyst drives continuous improvement of business processes through effective utilization and optimization of RentalMan, supporting both project-based initiatives and ongoing system enhancements. This includes identifying system gaps, recommending solutions, and supporting implementation efforts to improve efficiency, data integrity, and overall user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison between business units and IT for all RentalMan-related initiatives
  • Gather, document, and validate business requirements for system enhancements, integrations, and process improvements
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories for development teams
  • Configure and support core RentalMan modules (e.g., contracts, billing, inventory, service, and financials)
  • Lead or support end-to-end project lifecycle activities including requirements, design, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support
  • Develop and execute test strategies, test plans, and user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios
  • Analyze system and process issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend scalable solutions
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and change logs
  • Collaborate on system integrations between RentalMan and other enterprise applications (e.g., CRM, finance, mobile solutions)
  • Support change management efforts including training, documentation, and user adoption initiatives
  • Contribute to the long-term IT and business systems roadmap with a focus on RentalMan optimization

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong functional knowledge of the RentalMan ERP system
  • Understanding of rental business processes including contract lifecycle, billing, logistics, and asset management
  • Ability to analyze complex business processes and translate them into system solutions
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting tools, and SQL queries preferred
  • Familiarity with system integrations, APIs, and data flow concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Experience supporting software testing, UAT, and release management processes
  • Business acumen with a focus on driving efficiency, cost savings, and revenue optimization

Education or Certification required:

  • Experience working with RentalMan in a business or IT capacity
  • Background in equipment rental, construction, or related industries
  • Experience with ERP implementations or large-scale system enhancements
  • Knowledge of reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project methodologies
