Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and technically proficient Business Analyst to support Business Intelligence, analytics requirements definition, and related enterprise technology initiatives. This role is focused on helping business stakeholders articulate their reporting, dashboard, KPI, data, and analytics needs so they can be translated into clear, actionable BI requirements. Familiarity with Infor M3 ERP is highly valuable, but the primary objective is not to define ERP solutions; it is to clarify business questions, operational pain points, decision-making needs, and data requirements that enable effective BI solutions across manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, finance, procurement, customer service, and related business capabilities.
As a Business Analyst, you will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders, BI developers, data engineers, Scrum Masters, project managers, vendors, and technical teams. You will facilitate discovery, help the business explain what information they need and why, document reporting and analytics requirements, define KPIs and business rules, support backlog readiness, and help ensure BI, data, ERP-related reporting, and integration solutions are delivered with clarity, quality, and measurable business value.
This position is primarily an individual contributor role with significant cross-functional leadership responsibilities, supporting the continued maturation of Business Analysis and Product Delivery practices within the IT Delivery organization. The role is expected to help establish repeatable standards for requirements management, user story development, acceptance criteria, process documentation, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement as the organization continues to scale Agile delivery practices.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges, identify improvement opportunities, and define clear business objectives.
- Conduct discovery sessions, workshops, interviews, and requirement validation sessions with business and technical teams.
- Analyze current-state business processes and design future-state improvements that improve efficiency, transparency, and business value.
- Translate complex business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, workflows, use cases, and business requirements documentation.
- Support Agile Transformation and Product Delivery practices by helping teams improve backlog readiness, story refinement, sprint planning, release planning, and delivery predictability.
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters, project managers, developers, QA, DevOps, architecture, security, data engineers, and vendors to ensure requirements are understood, prioritized, and delivered effectively.
- Use Infor M3 ERP process knowledge as helpful business context when clarifying reporting, dashboard, KPI, and analytics requirements across supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, inventory management, sales order management, distribution, finance, customer service, and planning.
- Distinguish between needs that can be met through existing ERP functionality and needs that require BI, reporting, data modeling, integration, or analytics support.
- Lead the definition of reporting and dashboard requirements by helping stakeholders clarify business questions, decision needs, KPIs, metrics, data definitions, usage patterns, priorities, and expected outcomes for BI solutions.
- Analyze ERP and enterprise data to identify trends, risks, root causes, process gaps, and opportunities for improved decision-making.
- Validate data integrity across ERP and reporting platforms and support data governance, master data quality, and data mapping initiatives.
- Develop detailed functional specifications for custom development, system integrations, APIs, interface requirements, and data flows.
- Write or validate SQL queries to investigate data issues, confirm reporting logic, and support technical analysis.
- Develop comprehensive test scenarios and test cases, coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), document defects, and validate that delivered solutions satisfy business objectives.
- Create and maintain business requirements documents, functional requirements, user stories, process flow diagrams, workflow documentation, business process models, data mapping documents, gap analyses, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
- Present findings, risks, issues, recommendations, and delivery updates to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders in a clear, business-relevant manner.
- Manage changing business priorities while maintaining scope alignment, stakeholder expectations, and delivery focus.
Requirements:
- 7–10+ years of professional Business Analyst experience within a mid-to-large enterprise environment.
- 5+ years supporting enterprise technology, data, analytics, BI, or ERP-related initiatives; hands-on Infor M3 ERP experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience working within manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, finance, procurement, inventory, warehouse operations, sales order management, customer service, or related business domains.
- Strong understanding of business analysis practices, including requirements elicitation, process modeling, gap analysis, root cause analysis, workflow documentation, solution evaluation, and change management.
- Experience supporting enterprise software implementations, ERP enhancements, BI initiatives, integrations, testing, UAT, and production readiness activities.
- Strong understanding of Agile Scrum, Kanban, SDLC, hybrid delivery methods, backlog management, sprint planning, story refinement, acceptance criteria, retrospectives, release planning, and change management.
- Proficiency with Business Intelligence concepts, data analysis, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile delivery tools; familiarity with Infor M3 ERP is preferred.
- Preferred experience with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, Infor Birst, Cognos, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SQL Server, Oracle, REST APIs, JSON, or XML.
- Ability to understand relational database structures, data flows, integrations, reporting logic, and enterprise data quality considerations.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including risk assessment, problem solving, prioritization, and decision-making in complex business and technology environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level presentation, facilitation, active listening, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships across business units, technical teams, vendors, product stakeholders, and leadership audiences.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, changing demands, and complex cross-functional work.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, detail-oriented, adaptable, and customer-focused, with the ability to work independently while influencing across teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Preferred certifications include CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMI-ACP, CSPO, PSM I, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Infor M3 Functional Certification, or Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
- Ability to travel as needed to support business stakeholder engagement, workshops, system validation, and delivery initiatives.
