Job Description

Assiniboine Credit Union is hiring for the position of a permanent Full-Time Business Analyst II to work at the PMO & Integration department.

About this opportunity:

  • This role requires to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • This role will be an hybrid position: some days working from home, and other days at the Head Office (540 St Anne's Rd, Winnipeg MB, R2M 5R7).

Reporting to the Manager, Business Analysis, the Business Analyst II is a senior business analysis professional who serves as a strategic liaison between business units, IT/Digital teams, and external vendors to ensure business and technical requirements are clearly defined and effectively delivered.

The Business Analyst II provides leadership within the Business Analysis team by establishing and promoting best practices, mentorship junior Business Analysts, and act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders. This role leads complex business process analysis and redesign initiatives, translates business needs into functional specifications, and supports delivery throughout the full solution lifecycle. Through strong stakeholder engagement, informed decision-making, and continuous improvement the Business Analysis II contributes to the maturity, effectiveness, and visibility of the BA discipline across the organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support informed decision-making and efficient business processes through collaboration, analysis, and solution development.
  • Act as a strategic advisor between business units, IT/Digital, and vendors to define business and technical requirements and enable effective solutions.
  • Lead complex business process analysis and redesign initiatives; document requirements, workflows, and deliverables.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and manage scope and change throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support build-vs-buy decisions and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that solutions meet expectations.
  • Lead stakeholder interviews and workshops to identify opportunities, document issues, and develop recommendations that improve performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop business process implementation plans and support change management for both local and remote teams.
  • Establish, document, and champion business analysis standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to junior Business Analysts, supporting their professional growth and effective application of BA methodologies and tools.
  • Lead by example in stakeholder engagement, business process redesign, and requirements elicitation, setting a standard for collaborative and effective analysis.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in business analysis, providing guidance and clarity on BA functions, processes, and value-added services.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions, workshops, and process reviews to strengthen team capability and organizational understanding of business analysis.
  • Lead or oversee complex business process improvement initiatives, taking ownership of key deliverables and ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing BA team environment with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners to support alignment and effective solution delivery.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities through reviews of departmental processes and practices.
  • Maintain professional confidentiality and protect the privacy of organizational and member information at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

The competencies for this position would typically be acquired through relevant post-secondary education in a related field and 5-7 years of progressive business analysis experience, ideally within the financial services sector.

A recognized Business Analyst designation (CBAP) is required. A Project Management Professional designation (PMP) is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Advanced analytical capability with the ability to define problems, evaluate solutions, and translate business requirements into actionable insights.
  • Proven expertise in business process modeling and translating requirements into functional specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to convey complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a systems thinking approach to support integrated, end to end solutions that align with business goals.
  • Experience applying business analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, user stories, process mapping).
  • Ability to lead analysis activities within cross-functional teams and drive projects to success.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and the ability to apply them to create effective business solutions.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles; familiar with Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is an asset.
