Job Description

SEI is looking for an experienced Business Analyst II with 2–5 years of experience to analyze business requirements, define functional specifications, and configure JIRA to drive operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has practical experience configuring JIRA workflows, customizing boards, and managing user stories for Agile development teams.

What you will do:

  • Requirements & User Story Management: Gather, analyze, and document functional/non-functional requirements, translating them into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria in JIRA.
  • JIRA Configuration & Administration: Configure and maintain JIRA projects, including custom workflows, fields, screen schemes, permission schemes, and notification schemes.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing business workflows and map them to JIRA workflows, creating automated actions, conditions, validators, and post-functions to enhance efficiency.
  • JIRA Reporting & Dashboards: Construct custom dashboards, advanced filters (JQL), and reports to track sprint velocity, team performance, and bottleneck identification.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary interface between business owners, developers, and QA teams to ensure alignment on product delivery.
  • Agile Methodology Support: Facilitate Agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retro) while ensuring JIRA boards and Scrum/Kanban configurations are optimal.
  • Training & Support: Provide training and documentation to team members on JIRA best practices.

What we need from you:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, or related field.
  • Experience: 2-5+ years in a business analyst role with at least 1-2 years hands-on experience in JIRA Configuration (workflows, fields, screens, permission schemes).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in JQL (JIRA Query Language) for complex searching and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Confluence for documentation.
  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Visio or similar diagramming tools for process mapping.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

What we would like from you:

  • Experience with JIRA Service Desk administration.
  • Experience in JIRA automation rules and scripting (Groovy, Python).
  • Atlassian Certification (ACP-100/ACP-120).
  • Configuring a new Jira workflow for a project change.
  • Writing JQL queries to generate a report on stuck issues.
  • Conducting user stories refinement sessions with stakeholders.
  • Updating Confluence documentation to align with Jira project changes.
