For this exciting opportunity, we are seeking students currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution pursuing a degree in Business Administration / Commerce, Economics, Information Technology, Marketing, Engineering or a related field. Candidates must be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution for the full duration of the co-op term and plan to return to their studies upon completion for at least one academic term. If you are not currently located near the work location, you must be willing to commute or temporarily relocate for the duration of the term. A valid study permit and studentship letter will be required where applicable.

The Business Analyst Co-Op will work closely with the Senior Business Advisor to drive performance reporting, metric tracking, and process improvements aligned with our Management Operating System. This role is ideal for someone who is strategic by nature, analytically inclined, detail-oriented, and passionate about the intersection of business and technology. You will gain exposure to real-world scenarios around strategy, planning and performance in a multi-national corporation and develop and present consulting-level presentations, while using your practical programming capabilities to streamline analytical tasks.

The role will also be supporting the Teck Digital Systems’ (TDS) Strategy, Planning & Performance department in facilitating planning routines for TDS’ leadership team and engagement with relevant TDS stakeholders. The individual will work with TDS business partners including organizational change management, finance, human resources, communications, and risk management. The individual will ensure clear, concise communication by demonstrating communications skills and supporting in service buildout objectives for the Performance Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Support the PMO Intake and Resource Allocation processes, including:
• Analyzing data and preparing reportsHelping to keep portfolio, project, and resource information up to date
• Engaging with business and technical team members
• Preparing and delivering presentations to various levels of stakeholders
• Gain hands-on experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) by working with tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Planner, and Microsoft Project.
• Get an overview of a diverse array of IT projects, including Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Applications, and Data initiatives
• Act as a Business Analyst on selected projects, contributing to:
• Gathering and documenting business requirements
• Conducting data analysis and preparing business documentation
• Supporting project activities and coordination
• Assisting with quality assurance (QA), testing, and validation
• Identify and analyze business problems, support process reviews, conduct impact assessments, and participate in change‑management activities
• Maintain clear and current documentation, adapting quickly to evolving business needs
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and digital solutions
• Participate in mentorship, coaching sessions, and targeted training to build your skills in portfolio management, project delivery, and requirements evaluation

Qualifications

• Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities, with the ability to interpret complex information and communicate insights clearly
• Ability to work closely across departments and balance multiple tasks with competing priorities
• Interest in project and portfolio management, with curiosity about how large organizations plan and deliver IT initiatives
• Comfortable initiating actions, asking questions, and proposing ideas in a team environment
• Interest in learning about the mining industry and how digital systems support operational excellence
• Familiarity or curiosity about SDLC approaches (Agile, Waterfall) and business analysis tools or methods
• Curiosity about enterprise technology topics such as cloud services, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and IT service management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, SharePoint, slide creation software); exposure to Power BI, Planner, or MS Project is an asset
• Familiarity with the mining or natural resources sector is an advantage, but not required
• Additional language skills—such as Spanish—are considered an asset

Pay Range: CAD $4,108 - $5,183 per month

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
