Job Description

Business Analyst (S/4HANA GBS Operational Readiness)

To ensure operational readiness and conclusive analysis and findings are provided to the transition team for the GBS process and operational readiness during S/4HANA rollouts.

This role assesses scope, validates service delivery model alignment, evaluates operational capability (training, system understanding, and process adherence), and identifies gaps prior to and during country go-lives.

The position enables successful stabilization by highlighting process inefficiencies, identifying services not yet transitioned to GBS, and supporting Transition & Transformation initiatives to deliver standardization, efficiency, and scalability.

1) Main tasks:

  • Analyze process and countries part of S/4HANA rollout scope and validate alignment with defined GBS service delivery model and scope
  • Assess operational readiness of countries prior to go-live:
    • Evaluate user training completion and effectiveness
    • Validate business process understanding
    • Ensure operational teams are to use S/4HANA in daily operations
  • Conduct gap assessments in:
    • Process execution
    • System usage
    • Governance and controls
  • Identify process inefficiencies and deviations from global templates
  • Highlight services or countries not yet transitioned into GBS scope
  • Provide structured inputs to Transition & Transformation (T&T) team for transition planning
  • Work closely with Transition Managers to:
    • Enable smooth handover of services into GBS
    • Support transition planning, readiness tracking, and issue resolution
  • Document findings, risks, and recommendations with clear prioritization
  • Support go-live readiness reviews and operational checkpoints
  • Track and follow up on readiness actions and remediation plans

2) Secondary tasks:

Tasks performed regularly in addition to the main duties but which do not determine the essential character of the position.

  • Support development of training materials and readiness frameworks
  • Participate in SIT/UAT and hypercare phases from an operations readiness perspective
  • Highlight scope for continuous improvement initiatives across GBS processes
  • Assist in defining standard operating procedures (SOPs) wherever needed

3) Miscellaneous tasks:

Tasks not performed regularly which are nevertheless a distinct part of the job, or special tasks / project work.

  • Support multiple country rollouts in parallel within global programs
  • Contribute to GBS maturity and governance frameworks
  • Participate in workshops, process alignment discussions, and stakeholder reviews

  • Provides recommendations on readiness, process improvements, and transition priorities
  • Flags risks and escalates readiness gaps impacting go-live

Qualifications, experience, know-how and skills critical for success

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Has relevant experience in analysing processes during enterprise wide technology change
  • Certification in SAP / S/4HANA or Business Analysis (preferred) ; usage of SAP knowledge preferred
  • 5–8 years in Business Analysis / Operations / GBS / Transformation roles
  • Experience in S/4HANA implementations or ERP transformations
  • Exposure to GBS or shared services environments
  • Experience in transition or operational readiness activities preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication
  • Structured and detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, transformation environment
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills
  • Understanding of S/4HANA business processes (Finance, Supply Chain, etc.)
  • Knowledge of GBS service delivery models and transition frameworks
  • Process mapping and gap analysis methodologies
  • SAP S/4HANA (user-level understanding across modules)
  • MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • Process documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Signavio)
  • Knowledge of reporting tools (Power BI – optional)
  • Understanding of shared services / GBS operations
  • Exposure to global operating models and cross-country processes
  • Flexibility to support global time zones
  • Occasional travel for workshops and go-live support
  • Availability during critical go-live and stabilization periods
