Job Description

Business Analyst, IT
Interpath
Cape Town, South Africa

Interpath is an international and fast-growing advisory business with deep expertise in a broad range of specialisms spanning deals, advisory and restructuring capabilities.

We deliver tangible results for global businesses, their investors, and stakeholders when complex problems arise, and critical decisions need to be made. Interpath is agile, independent, and conflict-free, and our passion for doing what’s right, every time, sets us apart.

Our diverse teams provide specialist technical knowledge combined with deep sector experience across our service line specialisms. Since our foundation in 2021, Interpath has grown rapidly, and we now have a presence across the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, BVI, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Barbados, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and South Africa. By 2030 we aim to be one of the world’s leading advisory firms with a truly global footprint.

Interpath is seeking a Business Analyst to support the delivery of strategic technology and business initiatives across the organisation.

Working closely with stakeholders across multiple service lines, the role will focus on understanding current (“as-is”) processes, systems and ways of working, and translating these into clearly defined future (“to-be”) states aligned to business objectives.

The Business Analyst will play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology delivery, ensuring that requirements are clearly defined, well understood and effectively translated into actionable outputs for project teams.

This role requires strong analytical capability, stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to operate effectively within complex and evolving environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and document current (as-is) processes, systems and workflows, identifying inefficiencies, risks and improvement opportunities
  • Design future-state (to-be) processes, operating models and system requirements aligned to business and technology strategy
  • Gather, analyse and document clear, structured business and functional requirements with full traceability
  • Engage stakeholders at all levels, facilitating workshops to drive alignment and validate requirements
  • Conduct gap analysis between current and future states, supporting solution design with technical teams and project managers
  • Support end-to-end project delivery, ensuring requirements are understood, prioritised and implemented effectively
  • Identify and drive process improvements, enhancing controls, governance and consistency
  • Produce high-quality documentation including process maps, BRDs, functional specifications and supporting materials

Requirements

Core requirements

  • Business analysis experience in IT, tech or transformation environments
  • Process mapping (as-is/to-be) and analysis
  • Requirements gathering and documentation
  • Stakeholder engagement across all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable

  • Financial services or regulated environment experience
  • Exposure to IT projects or digital transformation
  • Data analysis capability
  • Familiarity with BA tools/methods (e.g. Agile, JIRA, Confluence)
  • Experience creating process/data-flow diagrams (e.g. Visio)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. BCS, CBAP)

All hands on deck - stand shoulder-to-shoulder with colleagues and clients, be that physically or from afar. Our individual expertise may find the answers, but implementation happens though teamwork.
Passion drives success - The impossible is always possible. We push the boundaries of what is expected because we're never satisfied with the status quo. Our clients expect the right result when they engage with us, and it's only by delivering this that we win.
Embrace different - cultures to mindsets, we welcome all. We believe that people are equal, but not the same.
