About the role

Ready to play a pivotal role in one of Mater’s most exciting transformation projects? We are seeking an experienced, organised, proactive and relationship driven Business Analyst to support a major healthcare systems transition and integration program.

This is a full-time maximum-term contract of 12 months at our Newstead (QLD) location.

Reporting to the Stream Lead, Systems and Data within the IT & Data workstream, you will work across the transition program to analyse, define, and support the delivery of changes to clinical and corporate systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring business, clinical, and operational requirements are clearly understood and translated into effective transition outcomes, with a strong focus on continuity of patient care and hospital operations.

This role suits a delivery focused Business Analyst who is comfortable working in complex, multi-organisational environments. Your focus will include designing and implementing project plans, understanding workflows, mapping processes, assessing risks, and supporting testing and documentation.

What you’ll be doing

As a Business Analyst at Mater, you will perform comprehensive business analysis, emphasizing effective agile requirements management, technical analysis, and design skills. Additionally, this position will mentor and guide team members in business analysis. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead business analysis activities supporting the transition of clinical and corporate applications as part of a largescale systems and data cutover.
  • Elicit, analyse, and document current state and future state business processes, system usage, and data flows.
  • Work closely with clinical, corporate, and operational stakeholders to identify requirements, impacts, risks, and constraints.
  • Support application separation, migration, replacement, or decommissioning activities through clear, actionable analysis.
  • Identify and document system dependencies, integrations, and business impacts to inform cutover planning and sequencing.
  • Contribute to transition readiness activities, including business impact assessments and operational preparedness.
  • Support data and integration analysis to ensure end-to-end business requirements are met.
  • Assist with development of testing scenarios, business validation, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support knowledge transfer, documentation, and handover to operational and application support teams.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, technical teams, vendors, and subject matter experts.

About you

Seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual ready to excel in the role of Business Analyst at Mater, we are looking for someone with:

  • Experience as a Business Analyst (+5 years) working on complex system or application transitions.
  • Demonstrated experience across clinical and/or enterprise corporate systems in healthcare or similarly regulated environments. Healthcare experience is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Strong ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical staff and senior leaders.
  • Proven experience analysing and documenting business processes, system impacts, and requirements in transformation programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of BPMN software and drawing tools e.g. MS Visio, ArchiMate
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem solving skills.
  • Comfortable operating in fast paced, ambiguous, and time critical environments.
  • Certified Business Analyst

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
