As a Business Administration Trainee, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on administration experience within a business environment while undertaking VET studies over a 12-month period. The main aspects of the role will include:

These positions will be based in the multiple Schools, Divisions and or Institutes across Western Sydney University. Please note that some of these roles may be shared between two or more of business units within the university, and a trainee may need to travel between campuses.

Faculty of Health: Join the Faculty of Health at our Campbelltown campus and gain valuable office administration experience. You'll support staff and students by coordinating meetings and events, managing enquiries, maintaining records, and preparing documents in a busy and supportive health education environment. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in health, education, and supporting future health professionals.
Office of People & Culture: Based at our Hawkesbury campus, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting initiatives that help create a positive, inclusive and engaging staff experience across the University. Your first rotation will be with our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team, supporting activities and events that build inclusion and belonging across Western. You’ll gain practical experience in areas such as event support, communications, resource preparation, data and reporting, and general administration, with opportunities to contribute to a range of people and culture initiatives thereafter.
Office of Future Student Engagement: Join a team dedicated to inspiring future students to explore higher education opportunities. Based at our Hawkesbury Campus, the trainee will support domestic student recruitment, widening participation and engagement activities & events. The role offers hands-on experience in administration, event coordination, presentations, project support, room bookings, and stakeholder engagement.
Division of Education and Students: Located at our Kingswood campus, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting Learning and Teaching initiatives across the University, including events such as the learning and teaching showcase and professional learning activities. Develop practical skills in event and project coordination, administration, communications, data management, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to initiatives that support teaching practice and the student learning experience.
Division of Indigenous Leadership: This position sits with the Badanami Team at Kingswood and Parramatta Campuses. There are also other opportunities to work from other WSU Campuses where Badanami centres are located. You will play a key role in supporting Indigenous student success through exciting events, engagement activities and academic support programs while developing valuable skills in communications, project coordination, administration and stakeholder engagement. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your professional experience, connect with students and contribute to a culturally safe and supportive university environment.
Faculty of Engineering, Computing & Science (ECS): This position is based in Kingswood with the options to work from Parramatta South and Parramatta (Hassall St) campuses to work amongst different areas of the faculty. You will gain experience in event coordination, communications, student engagement and mentoring while helping create a culturally safe and supportive learning environment.
ASPIRE™: This position can be based in Campbelltown or Kingswood depending on applicant preference. In this role you will work on the ASPIRE™ Program supporting current Indigenous students with paid internship opportunities. You will gain experience in event coordination, communications, student engagement and mentoring while helping create a culturally safe and supportive learning environment.
The College: Based at our Parramatta City campus, you'll support students on their journey at Western. Gain practical experience managing records, coordinating meetings and events, preparing documents and correspondence, and providing administrative support to a busy team.
Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts, Business, Education and Law (SABEL): Located at our Parramatta South campus, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the daily operations of one of the University's largest faculties. Duties include administration, event coordination, record management, preparing documentation, and assisting staff, students, and visitors.
Division of the Provost: Based at our Parramatta South campus, you'll work within a central division that supports the University's academic faculties and schools. Gain exposure to university-wide operations in a senior executive office while developing practical skills in administration, calendar management, event coordination, communication and stakeholder support.
