Job Description

The Division’s responsibilities include planning, street design, curb management, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility, and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.

The Office of Livable Streets (OLS) is tasked with prioritizing strategic planning, community engagement, research, policy, design, implementation, and long-term management. Their goal is to create streets that are livable, supporting safety, accessibility, inclusion, resiliency, active modes, community cohesion, and economic vitality citywide. They place special emphasis on Priority Investment Areas, mode shift, and reimagining streets. The candidate will also maintain operational data for bus stop seating, including work orders, maintenance, and state of good repair status, work verifications, and payments. The candidate will track and manage public engagement data, program performance, and produce reports for community partners. The candidate will assist in the preparation and analysis of data for administrative and operational analyses, including the evaluation of procedures and policies, using quantitative and other research techniques. The candidate will also be called upon to prepare charts, graphs, and other related materials on Power BI and other Microsoft visual platforms to aid in intra- and inter-agency coordination.

Duties may include but are not limited to: The candidate will conduct analysis of existing databases, including data collection policies and data maintenance practices. The candidate will conduct intra- and inter-agency coordination, including data and platform coordination within Furniture and Operations, other DOT operational and planning groups, and outside agency partners such as MTA. The candidate will coordinate the development and maintenance of a shared agency-wide bus stop tracking system and associated procedures, record management systems, and data standards, in coordination with DOT IT. The candidate will develop and maintain associated documentation and training materials.

The candidate will train staff and provide technical assistance in these practices. The candidate will serve regular working groups and participate in training sessions for the system, ensuring standardization and receiving feedback for procedural changes and system improvements. The candidate will prepare charts, graphs, and other visual materials, utilizing Power BI or other Microsoft visual platforms. The candidate will conduct reporting and analysis of data, timelines, outlooks, and planning goals, as needed. The candidate will track and manage public engagement data and produce reports for community partners. The candidate will perform data entry and other database management tasks as needed for program maintenance. The candidate will make policy recommendations regarding automation of data tasks, reporting, and procedural updates to improve system efficiency. The candidate will support additional Furniture and Operations database tasks related to the assigned role as needs arise.
