We are seeking to hire candidates for our Bus Operator, Victory (2200).

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Bus Operator / Light Rail Operator / Trolley Operator - VICTORY Delco Depot (2200/2100)

Starting Pay: $27.21 hourly

Max Pay: $38.88 hourly (after completing four (4) years of service)

***Please be mindful - selected Bus Operator Candidates for the Victory Delco Bus Depot must be willing to learn how to operator three (3) modes of transportation; Bus Operator (routes primarily in Delaware County), Light Rail Operator (Media / Sharon Hill Trolley), as well as the Norristown High Speed Line. ***

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Drive vehicles over specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules; complying with traffic regulations while ensuring that passengers have a safe ride. Operators will work a guaranteed forty (40) hours a week. *Only gauranteed if physically working*

ASPECTS OF THE POSITION

* Drives passenger vehicle while following all safety procedures for vehicle operation.

* Stops vehicles at assigned areas so that passengers can board and unload.

* Performs pre-trip inspection of vehicles.

* Announces stops to passengers.

* Assists passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off bus.

* Answers general questions about bus schedules or routes.

* Reports delays, passenger emergencies, and accidents.

* Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.

* Prepares accident reports when required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

* A minimum of three (3) years licensed driving experience.

* No suspensions in the last three (3) years (from the date of application back three (3) years, i.e. 2023-2026); No more than one (1) moving violation in the last three (3) years, i.e 2023-2026.

* Valid driver’s license with no driving with a suspended/revoked license over the past 5 years; i.e. 2021-2026.

* Ability to successfully complete / pass an interview, employment history verification, criminal background check, and Pre-Employment medical examination including drug & alcohol screening. ***SEPTA is a Second Chance Employer / Re-Entry. We welcome applicants that may have barriers to employment as we promote fair-chance hiring***.

*Required to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, split days off / swings, especially during first two (2) years of employment.

*** A High School Diploma / GED is not required for this career opportunity; however, you must pass a Basic Math and Reading test through SEPTA'S CRC Testing Center in lieu of.***

CDL Permit Requirements:

* Non CDL - You will be required to obtain the following CDL Permits: CDL Class B (General Knowledge), Passenger Endorsement, and Air Brake Restriction Removal, no later than two (2) weeks before your tentative start date.

VICTORY DISTRICT INFORMATION

Please be mindful - selected Bus Operator Candidates for the Victory Delco Bus Depot must be willing to learn how to operator three (3) modes of transportation; Bus Operator (routes primarily in Delaware County), Light Rail Operator (Media / Sharon Hill Trolley), as well as the Norristown High Speed Line.

In addition to operating a bus, you will be required to obtain your Rail Certification on the Media Sharon Hill Trolley and the Norristown High Speed Line

SEPTA will provide all training for you to succeed in obtaining the additional certifications required. Rail certifications must be maintained through an annual recertification class.
