Job Location: Salem YMCA - Salem, MA 01970

Position Type: Part Time

Salary Range: $22.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Job Shift: After SchoolThe Salem YMCA is seeking a Bus Monitor to ensure the safe and positive transportation of children from Salem Public Schools to YMCA programs. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with kids and being part of a supportive team.

Schedule & Location

  • Position leaves from the Salem Public School bus depot.
  • Monitor trips from schools to the YMCA bus stop and ride back to the depot.
  • Program runs from 1:30 pm to 4 pm, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children on the bus, ensuring safety and positive behavior.
  • Assist with boarding and exiting.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports.
  • Keep the bus clean and support compliance with YMCA and EEC transportation policies.
  • Communicate with staff, families, and school partners as needed.

Qualifications

  • Reliable, caring, and able to work with children.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior childcare or youth program experience a plus.

QualificationsQualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old with a High School Diploma or GED
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Ability to enter and exit the bus repeatedly and assist children as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people across the community
  • Prior experience working with children preferred

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 130pm to 4pm
