School Bus Helper

Transportation Department

Minimum of 25 hours/38 weeks | Monday - Friday

Starting Wage: $17.93/hr + Benefits

Duluth Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for School Bus Helper position.

Job Description:

Assists physically and mentally disabled children on and off buses. Attends to their specific needs, such as secures children for purposes of safety. Maintains a safe and controlled environment during the ride to and from school, as well as for field trips. Communicates any problems to the bus driver, teachers, and other appropriate staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate; or an equivalent combination of education or training necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the work.

Additional Information:

First Aid and CPR Certification preferred but will provide.

  • District provides minimum of $50,000 of life insurance at no cost, employee may purchase supplemental life insurance

Long Term Disability

  • District-provided at no cost to employee

Flexible Spending Accounts

  • Employees may elect to contribute on a pre-tax basis to Health Flexible Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Accounts

Retirement

  • The District contributes 7.5% of your total salary in the Public Employees Retirement Association) pension plan.
  • Employees may also elect to participate in Tax-Shelter Annuity options.

Time Off

  • Each bargaining unit contract defines time off provisions such as holidays, sick/personal leave, vacation, etc.
