$3.00 Shift Differential

Function Summary

As a Burn Table Operator, you'll help support manufacturing operations by producing parts used in the fabrication and assembly of equipment. This role is responsible for operating burn table and laser cutting equipment, programming machines, handling materials, and ensuring products are produced safely, accurately, and on schedule.

We're looking for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, experience in a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

What You'll Do

Operate Cutting Equipment & Process Materials

  • Follow direction provided by the department supervisor.
  • Operate burn table, plasma cutting table, and laser cutting equipment.
  • Load and unload materials to and from cutting equipment.
  • Program machines to cut materials according to production requirements.
  • Cut scrap material as needed.
  • Produce material within established quality and production standards.
  • Complete cross-training on other equipment and departmental procedures as required.

Handle Materials & Support Production

  • Unload vendor trucks as needed.
  • Operate overhead cranes to move materials safely throughout the facility.
  • Identify steel plates, beams, channel, angle, round stock, and flat stock.
  • Assist with material handling and staging activities to support production needs.

Maintain Equipment, Quality & Organization

  • Read and understand blueprints and production requirements.
  • Use hand measuring tools to verify dimensions and specifications.
  • Work with thermal torches, plasma torches, and metal applications up to three inches in thickness.
  • Utilize acetylene torch cutting techniques as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles and daily housekeeping practices.
  • Follow standard procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.

  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers, management, customers, and others.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and support effective communication between shifts.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Prior experience reading and understanding blueprints.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of similar experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, including operating burn table and/or laser cutting equipment.
  • Experience using hand measuring tools.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and safely rigging materials.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to work successfully in an environment requiring flexibility, initiative, and independent decision-making.

Physical Requirements

This position is based in a manufacturing environment and requires sitting and standing for extended periods. The role requires good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and the ability to lift, carry, move, and maneuver materials as assigned. Employees must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and may be required to travel domestically.
