Job Description

What You'll Do:ODH'S Bureau of Health Preparedness is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Public Health Consultant to support statewide public health and healthcare preparedness initiatives. In this role, you will provide direct technical assistance to local health departments, hospitals, and internal partners to strengthen Ohio’s readiness for public health emergencies. Job duties include:Provide consultation and technical assistance to partners on public health and healthcare preparedness planning, budgeting, evaluation, and implementation.Monitor and evaluate funded projects through meetings, conference calls, and written communication to ensure alignment with state guidelines and federal grant requirements.Develop and deliver training, educational materials, and presentations on preparedness performance measures, grant strategies, and program outcomes.Identify public health and healthcare preparedness risks using established guidelines and tools, and determine resource needs to support preparedness activities.Assist in developing program guidelines, procedural manuals, and preparedness initiatives such as conferences, workshops, and statewide events.Support federal grant management activities, including preparing applications, monitoring spending, overseeing contracts, and evaluating proposal compliance.Track and compile quarterly progress reports, data summaries, quality assurance documents, and supporting materials for internal and external stakeholders.Build and maintain partnerships with multidisciplinary state and local partners to advance shared preparedness goals.Attend trainings and conferences to remain current on public health preparedness trends. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is an hourly position, with a pay range of 12 on the 1199 Pay Range Schedule. Qualifications

Position Qualifications:Option 1: 6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)Completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field Must be able to provide own transportation. Or Option 2:18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)Completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field Must be able to provide own transportation. Or Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 12, Step 1 of the SEIU/1199 union Pay Range Schedule ($32.69 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($34.35) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
