Job Title: BUILDING/GROUNDS SUPERVISOR ILocation: Echo State Park 2115 Echo Dam Road Coalville, Utah Looking for a scenic workplace near the High Uintas, with easy access to Park City and Salt Lake City? Echo State Park is seeking a motivated Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to help maintain and improve one of Utah’s premier recreation destinations.
Echo offers a unique mix of campgrounds, group-use areas, a marina, and extensive infrastructure. In this role, you will lead maintenance staff, oversee facility and grounds operations, coordinate projects, manage equipment and utilities, and help ensure a safe, high-quality experience for park visitors.

If you enjoy working outdoors, leading teams, solving problems, and taking pride in maintaining public facilities.Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:Supervise maintenance staff and daily work assignments.Plan and coordinate facility, grounds, trail, and infrastructure maintenance projects.Perform and oversee construction, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping work.Operate and maintain heavy equipment, vehicles, hand tools, and power tools.Inspect park facilities, grounds, and equipment to identify and address maintenance needs.Train, mentor, and evaluate staff while promoting a safe work environment.Manage maintenance resources, materials, and budget expenditures.Enforce safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.Respond to emergencies and resolve operational and maintenance issues.Assist with project planning, facility improvements, and long-term asset management.At Echo State Park, we are committed to the park’s success and the people who make it happen. Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:Dependability, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while taking initiative.Experience in facility operations, construction, grounds maintenance, and park infrastructure upkeep.Supervisory experience, including assigning work, training staff, and evaluating performance.Strong mechanical skills with equipment such as small engines, mowers, hydraulics, ATVs, UTVs, and heavy equipment.Effective communication, organizational, and computer skills, including budget management experience.Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to efficiently utilizing resources.Experience planning, coordinating, and completing maintenance and construction projects.The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining safe, clean, and well-maintained park facilities.Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: The ability to supervise others by communicating effectively, establishing work assignments and effectively evaluating work performance. Must have basic computer skills and experience. Knowledge of Park Management including park operations, budgeting, maintenance, interpretation, resource protection, inter-agency cooperation, long-range planning.Leadership skills.Public communication skills.Customer service skills.Problem-solving skills. •Leadership training with ability to apply leadership principles in practical, on-the-job settingsStrong administrative skills, including experience with HR practices, employee scheduling, budgeting, cash handling, and operational planningInclusive leadership skills that foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environmentProven ability to build and lead effective teams through coaching, communication, and accountabilityStrong collaboration skills with experience working across multiple divisions, departments, or partner agenciesExperience supporting or participating in cross-functional projects in a public service or operations-focused environmentWork may involve physical exertion, including long periods of standing, walking over rough or rocky terrain, and frequent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching.
The position may also involve exposure to potentially hazardous or unusual environmental conditions, such as extreme weather, remote wilderness areas, or work on watercraft and OHVs.A valid driver’s license is required. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a CDL, Backflow Certification, Culinary Water Certification, or licenses and certifications in areas such as general contracting, building, electrical, HVAC, welding, plumbing, and related fields.Some travel and on-call may be required.
