Job Description

What the role is all about:

Winsport Building Operators are responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting facility systems such as boilers, HVAC, electrical, and automation. Ensuring guest and tenant comfort while maintaining code compliance is paramount. Regular building rounds and inspections ranging from daily to annually support the Winsport team in providing world-class facilities. Frequent interaction with athletic groups, tenants, team members, and guests allow for demonstration of passion for people, sport, fitness, and providing outstanding service as an individual and part of a greater team.

What you will be doing:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain equipment such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, life-safety systems, and auxiliary equipment as per governing regulatory bodies such as ABSA and per manufacturers recommendations.
  • Use building automation systems/building management systems to adjust temperatures, pressures, and humidity in response to occupancy needs.
  • Assist with hands-on general maintenance, cleaning, plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs as well as other miscellaneous duties as required.
  • Complete minor maintenance and repairs such as replacing belts and filters, lubricating machinery, testing and treating water, plumbing repairs, and housekeeping.
  • Provide on-call evening, overnight, and weekend support as scheduled by management team and be available for all after-hour emergency situations while on-call.
  • Work weekends in rotation with other Building Operators on the team.
  • Receive, process, and manage calls relating to physical and environmental aspects of the premises to a satisfactory final resolution.
  • Utilize CMMS system to create, complete, and track all work orders for quality control, record-keeping, compliance, and accountability.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings, discussions, planning, and record-keeping to ensure Winsport’s safety culture is always at the top of mind.
  • Escalate and communicate issues to management to ensure timely resolution and quality control.

What you bring:

  • Must hold 4th Class Power Engineering certificate or higher.
  • 2+ years related building maintenance experience in a commercial facility environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems, machinery, and tools.
  • Experience in reactive and preventative maintenance management.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and life safety systems and principles.
  • Competency with computers and programs, specifically building management software.
  • Experience with industrial refrigeration would be considered an asset.

You will be:

  • Rotational shifts Monday – Sunday including on-call rotation.
  • Must lift or carry up to 10 lbs. continuously, 20 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to climb ladders frequently and work at height.
  • Must be able to walk long distances on slippery, uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must hold valid 5th class Alberta Driver’s License.
