Building Operator 1Regular Full-Time(35 hours per week, Wednesday through Sunday) ART + AUDIENCE + LEARNING Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the largest art museums in North America, attracting approximately one million visitors annually. The AGO Collection of more than 120,000 works of art ranges from cutting-edge contemporary art to significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists and European masterpieces. AGO Values:

 We are currently seeking a Building Operator 1 to join our Plant Operations team. Under the direction of the Manager, Plant Operations the incumbent will perform basic mechanical & electrical maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, painting, cleaning, cable pulls, and lamp replacement.   They also will assist Plant staff & contractors as required. The salary range for this position is $41,113 - $51,415 per annum What is this position responsible for?
  • Assist Building operators with basic maintenance tasks, i.e.:
  • Maintenance, work orders, service requests
  • Tool retrieval, equipment cleaning, organize shop
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks ie;
  • Replace lamps & air filters
  • Organize and re-stock inventories
  • Escort, assist and monitor contractors
  • Pick up orders from shipping dock
  • Assist Electrician with basic electrical tasks, i.e.:          
  • Tool retrieval
  • Assisting with any work where two persons required for safety purposes
  • Basic plumbing repairs & replacement, i.e.:
  • change a tap washer
  • isolate a water leak
  • Paint and clean equipment and premises, i.e.:
  • paint/clean mechanical rm. floors, pumps, chillers, boilers
  • Pull cable from source to terminus, i.e.:
  • data cable from comm. closet to office
  • Perform other duties as assigned and ensures a safe working environment while performing and completing tasks as assigned
    What are we looking for?
  • Highschool Diploma
  • Basic re-lamping / lighting knowledge & aptitude
  • Basic mechanical aptitude     
  • Ability to work with basic hand tools    
  • WHMIS Training
  • Vertical Platform Lift Certificate
  • Fall Arrest Training Certificate
  • Building Environmental Systems Operator (BES) Certificate an asset
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Good service delivery skills
  • Ability to follow instruction, ask questions and learn on the job
