OPS | Regulatory Compliance, Campus Operations

The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of multiple UAMS buildings, ensuring facility safety, functionality, space integrity, and regulatory compliance.
As a key member of UAMS Building & Space Management, the Building Manager is responsible for a wide range of facility and space management activities, providing a high level of customer service while collaborating closely with stakeholders across UAMS. This includes serving as a liaison to Engineering & Operations, Planning, Design & Construction, Environmental Services, IT, Environmental/Occupational Health & Safety, and Security Support Services.
Bachelor’s degree in facility management, operations, safety, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. PLUS one (1) year of experience in building operations, facility management, space management, safety, or a related area.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and communicate clearly and professionally.
Demonstrated customer service skills, with a commitment to supporting employees, visitors, and the public.
Familiarity with applicable regulatory codes and compliance standards, including NFPA, The Joint Commission, CMS, ADH, and DFA requirements.
Working knowledge of NCES and FICM space-use standards.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and facility or space-management platforms.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with internal departments, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in facility management, operations, safety, business administration, or a related field.
Two to five years of experience in building operations, facility management, space management, safety, or a related area.
Experience working in a healthcare, higher education, or academic medical center environment.
Experience coordinating employee or departmental moves, furniture reallocation, and facility reconfiguration projects.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, computer-aided facility management systems, or other space-management software.
Knowledge of security, building-access, and access-control protocols.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities
Proactively monitor building conditions to ensure assigned facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant.
Conduct routine environmental, safety, and facility inspections.
Identify and coordinate the timely resolution of operational, compliance, maintenance, and facility-related issues across assigned buildings.
Support space-planning initiatives to ensure the effective and appropriate use of UAMS facilities.
Coordinate occupant moves, furniture relocations, and facility reconfiguration projects.
Maintain accurate building, room, occupancy, and space-management records.
Collaborate with internal departments and stakeholders to minimize disruptions during moves and facility projects.
Ensure assigned spaces comply with institutional policies, NCES/FICM space standards, and applicable healthcare, life-safety, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Salary Information:
Commensurate with education and experience.
